Well, I take all fault for tring to do this all in one night with no experiance.... I'm having trouble with installing the GMS turbo inlet and getting it to mate up with the stock adaptor to the air box... I was getting frustrated so I decided to quit. I'm going to make anouther go at it on tuesday.... and woundering if an experianced suby guy could sit and drink my beer and hand me tools while I try to finish this install with my vf39 an associated upggrades. Any takers? you woun't have to turn a bolt, just point and say "your doing it wrong, try this instead." :emo::emo::emo: I just want to have a running car by the end of the night...
gimmick? It's too long and won't mate up with the stock after MAF hose? I have the SAMCO after MAF hose and had to trim 2 inches. IIRC Bill (02blubru) matted his up to a stock after MAF hose and also had to trim it a bit...but not two full inches like I did.
I don't know if it is even too long or if it is even wrong, I do know that with my lack of knollage and my compacity for putztorisms.... I'm having a hard time and I would like to suffer harsh critisim and have a running car.
I'll tell you this....the gimmick inlet is bigger and longer than the stocker. With that said, the connection where it joins the after MAF hose is moved towards the stock airbox by an inch or so...due to the increase in length. PM Bill and ask him for a picture.
You will most likely have to trim it a bit if you haven't tried already. From what I've read on nasioc, that's what I heard. I have the samco, but it's not attached to the stock airbox or aftermaf hose and fits fine. I would suggest trimming it.
I am running a stock intake box and after maf hose with a gimmick inlet hose. if you decide to trim it, DO NOT TRIM IT ON THE TURBO SIDE ONLY THE SIDE THAT MATES UP TO THE AFTER MAF HOSE!!!
well so far so good, I connected it to my SPT SRI, w/heatsheild, now all I gotta do is get the turbo in place... and mount the tmic....
got everything inplace, it seems that it is almost impossable to get the recirc line in the turbo inlet, so atomspheric it is... the vf39 is in, .... .... can't get the mounting bracket on the down pipe to line up... .... on the underside of the down pipe I can't tighten one of the nuts quite enough to keep it on with the heat wrap in the way, she goes back on jackstands tonight.... also, how do I get ahold of Ron at RS Motors? I need to get a real tune...SOON!!!!
i CANNOT get the donwpipe to line up with the mount under the transmision crossmember, and I have violent rattling on the floor of the car. it is going to the exhaust shop tomorow.
been there, done that. sorry bro. a couple suggestions unless you want to have the exhaust shop take care of it. Loosen the turbo to up-pipe bolts and/or loosen the downpipe to mid-pipe connection. Place on hanger then retighten everything. More than likley when you installed the inlet the turbo was shifted just a few millimeters, hence the dp is now closer to the cross member and now rubbing. it's an easy fix, just have to loosen the connections and tighten it while making sure the dp is at the right angle and not less than a 1/4 inch away from the crossmember. good luck!!
thought crossed my mind... but the wife is sick of me spending so much time in the garage, she must kinda like me....
WELL, installed my sti top mount air baffle, man is that better looking matches right up to the Turbo XS TMIC!! now all I have to do is mount the water tank in the trunk the pluming and the electrical.
