I have a chance to buy a set of these at roughly 50% off...how hard will they be on my factory rotors? 03 WRX...thanks

hp plus will not wear the rotors crazy fast (but definitely faster than a street pad). They are extremely dusty and somewhat noisy. I go between these and the Hawk DTC30 on the rally car (depending on conditions). It is an aggressive pad but could be used on the street. hps is a bit better for a daily driver imo.

If you're worried about rotor wear, Carbotech is a company that's pretty well known to be mild. I've used both the AX6 and new XP8 pads for daily/rally-x/auto-x, and I'm impressed by how little they wear. I had the AX6 on oem blanks and the XP8 now on Raybestos blanks, and wear is really, really mild. Low rotor wear also means low dusting.

50% off on HP+ is nice though. Many people do like them along with the HPS as a light sport pad. Is there a particular need for teh HP+ pad specifically? What are you doing with the car to require a performance pad? I'm just curious if the HPS might be a better fit if the deal includes all Hawk pads. If it's just the HP+, well, that's your only choice. Just read as many user reviews and comments as you can and then decide. There's a good bit of info out there on them. I wish I could give you some personal experience, but I'm too happy as a clam with the XP8 to really have any interest in another brand/model.

The only thing I didn't like about running the hp+ on my daily driver was that they took a while to get up to temp during the cold days (so over half the year lol). I didn't mind the brake dust (it was considerably more than the hp pads I had on a different car). I didn't notice any accelerated rotor wear, but I also didn't have them on for long.

Great pads if you autox or track your car. Otherwise completely unnecessary and take a little bit to warm up and make noise when cold.

XP8, great in the cold. Just sayin'... :p

I was rather surprised. It's a better pad than the AX6 basically in every way. Both my bro and I have stepped to the XP8 pad on our Forsters for daily, auto-x, and rally-x and we're both happy. It's pretty insensitive to temp, quite responsive to pedal pressure, and very linear in behavior. Wear is great. It will squeal if you don't use grease/anti-seize between the metal parts.

My HPS are wearing down...this seemed like a possible alternative only because of the price. Car is strictly a street car and the wifes at that. She won't tolerate noisey brakes. Good advice guys. thank you

You should have clarified that first. HP+ isn't exactly what you start looking at for a plain street car. Something like the EBC Redstuff is a good choice: cheap, like stock, much better fade resistance.
