does anyone know where i can get new headlight lenses for my impreza? I'm talking just the front lens nothing else, because 100k takes its toll on this stuff. thank you.
Not unless someone has an older one laying around that they replaced with aftermarket ones...which i doubt. Unfortunately, to get a new lens, you need to buy the entire headlight. What's wrong with it? Cracked?
Does SubaruOnlineParts.com have anything in their "Genuine Parts" catelog? I remember awhile ago I was able to find various headlight parts for my 2011 (I needed new dust caps).
by the time you source 2 good pieces for it bake the lights separated the housings(hopefully not break anything) you will be at the same cost as 2 junk yard lights or new after market ones.
Have you tried using a headlight lens restoration kit? Here is an example from another Subaru forum, he used the Meguiar's Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit:
I tried looking on SubaruOnlineParts.com for it, but it looks like the best you'd be able to do is get the lens and housing as a combo, and they aren't cheap. I was thinking you could get them as separate parts like some of the other components, but I guess not.
Get the headlight restoration kit, I got one from auto value(mothers maybe?).. They cost like $20 and get the one with like 3 different stages, first one is like a sand paper the next is a wet sand and the last is a buffer with some paste.. They attach to a drill and you could probably get 3 to 4 sets of lights out of it. Headlights will come out looking brand new.
But make sure to tape off around the headlight or take the headlight out or you will wreck the paint if you hit it.
That's why i asked him if the lens was cracked or not. My headlights are 10yrs old on my bugeye. Used the Mothers Restoration kit with a 4 stage wet sand and buffing compound to shine them up again. They looked like brand new when i was done, but i took my time and it took me about 4 hours. Much cheaper than buying new lights! Then i called Flawless Front Ends and had Chris wrap them with clear bra vinyl to keep all of my hard work protected. But, if his are cracked, then we're wasting his time with the restoration kit idea...it doesn't fix cracks.
Well if that's the case just buy a Mothers Headlight Restoration kit! It has a 4 stage wet sanding kit in it to remove impurities, scratches and pits. Then you just take the provided applicator with the buffing wax stuff and give it 4-5 coats of that. All you need is a bucket of water and a battery operated drill. It takes a little while, but MUCH cheaper than new lights! If you don't want to take it on yourself, pm me and i can probably do them for you for cash. It won't be as cheap as doing them yourself, but it'll be cheaper through me than a body shop or buying new ones.
