Finally getting off my butt and joining the site after hearing about it back in June at a BIR trackday! Thanks to those two guys by the way and sorry I completely forgot your names! I do remember a '09WRX and a '10WRX that blew third gear that day...hope everything is fixed and the bad luck has ended there.

Anyways, the name is Russ and I bought a OBP 09WRX a year ago and love it! I am looking do a little bit of work to make it a bit more track worthy (the stock brakes with Hawk HPS pads let me down going into BIR's Turn 12) to keep running trackdays without the unfortunate side effect of death...Open to suggestions if any one has any.

Great site! Glad to be here!

    Russ...

Welcome to the site! You must have talked to Ben and Derek. You are pretty close on the years, but Ben's car is a '11 and one hell of a beast at that. Enjoy your stay, lots of good stuff going on here.

Maybe search for some used Brembo's?

^Yes, it was Derek and I at the track. My car lost 3rd gear, but it's back together now!

I'd start by getting some better pads (HPS are crap) and change your fluid to DOT4 (ie. ATE Superblue).

Welcome to the site. I (Derek) had the 09 WRX that you were chasing around the track. I wish I had a GoPro on the back of my car for that last session that we did. You did a good job of keeping me on my toes to keep you in the rear view mirror.

Ben (xluben) had the beast in the class above us.

Glad you made it to the site man. It looks like you decided to toss some more money into your car. I do like my HP+ pads on the track, but they have a lot of noise and brake dust. It can be annoying to DD, but I am getting used to it. If you have any questions make sure to ask. There are a lot of people who have done things to their cars that are similar to yours and could share some good advice.

Thanks for the welcome! I have some Goodrich Stainless lines, a couple of caliper rebuild kits (pretty sure I toasted the seals) from Rock Auto and a set of DBA 4000's to replace the chunked stockers that are all waiting to go on. I was planning on running the stock pads for DD and get a set of "trackday only" pads right after I huck those crap HPS pads into the nearest garbage can. Did anyone else notice that Hawk doesn't offer any compounds above the HP+ for rears on the non-STI's?? I was kinda hoping to the Blue compound all the way around. Any other non-hawk option to consider?

Also, I goofed and got the DBA's before talking to the Frozen Rotor guys...so I am debating...throw the DBA's on or return/sell them and go for some slotted FR's. Thoughts? Should I be posting this in the Modifications section?

Also I had Superblue in the car back in June...that was the one good idea I had for that track day! Apart from going of course...

I have run super blue both times I went out to BIR, and for my DD. I am going to switch to their gold fluid next change, makes it easier to tell when the fluid is bled out. I figured I will just swap Blue and Gold each time.

Ben uses StopTec you could talk to him about those pads on the track. Maybe some AutoX guys will chime in.
