Hey guys! Names Chris. I've been on the forums a while but never really posted, however now I think is a good time to start. Just picked up a SWP BRZ Limited this past Friday after pre-ordering it at the end of February. The car came in ~6 weeks earlier than expected so you can imagine my excitement. The car is replacing my 05 G35 Coupe and it's been an absolute blast to drive so far. It's basically like driving a go-kart, only slightly bigger. I also have an 06 Legacy that I DD. Anywho, just thought I'd pop in and say hello! And if you happen to see a white BRZ in the north metro/Blaine area, there is a good chance it's me. Wheels, tires and suspension will definitely be the first things to come, though it'll probably be a bit before I start to get into that. Sorta waiting to see what everyone else does and what works/doesn't work. So far it looks like you can squeeze 17"x9" wheels with 245 tires without much issue. 255s or possibly even 265s with some suspension and camber mods though I doubt I'll ever go that aggressive. I plan the track the car and do HPDEs at BIR. Maybe dabble in a bit of autocross as well for fun. Speaking of BIR I'll be at the MAP event in two weeks time. Gonna spend either Saturday or Sunday out on the road course. I had my G35 out there last year and it was a blast!

Welcome! What do you like about the car so far? I assume based on what I've seen the car drives pretty predictiably with controllable oversteer? So far is the fun car statement an understatement?
Congrats... A few qns: I see it has Sport, VSC Sport and Snow modes....Is it auto or manual? or does it have the Si drive as well? What does the sport mode do and versuses the VSC sport? And what does the snow mode actually do since its a RWD?...(assuming you read the user manual)
Definitely not an understatement. All the reviews aren't exaggerating, it basically drives like a go-kart! The driving position is very good. You sit with your legs nearly straight out since the seat isn't too far off the floor compared to most cars. You sorta have to fall down while getting into it. Turn in is precise and immediate and there is practically no body roll to speak of. Car is very responsive, predictable and controlled. It inspires a ton of confidence in the corners but the skinny tires keep the aggressiveness in check. I cannot imagine how it's going to corner with sticky tires and some suspension work. The power isn't really anything to sneeze at either. I'm actually a bit surprised by how fast it feels. It definitely won't keep up with an STi, WRX or my old Infiniti in a straight line but keep the RPMs above 5k and it'll start pulling pretty good. The transmission and gearing feels just right for the car as well. 1-5 are fairly short and close-ratioed with 6 having a pretty large RPM drop. Shifter has a VERY short throw for something from the factory. Overall a very very fun car to drive so far, no regrets with this purchase.
Came out to a bit over $30k after delivery, taxes, title, license, etc. No dealership markup on the car so I was quite happy about that.
Mine is a manual. The Snow and Sport mode (center switch) are on the autos only. As far as I can tell from looking at the manual, Sport mode changes the shift pattern (engine will rev higher before shifting as well as downshifting sooner), while the Snow mode won't allow 1st gear to be selected while starting from a stop. No Si drive to speak of but the VSC sport might come close to mimicking it. On the manuals there are 2 different buttons, one for the traction control and another for the VSC. The VSC can be toggle between "Normal" and VSC Sport" while the traction control can be toggled on and off independent of the VSC. The VSC can also be completely turned off along with the traction control by holding down the traction control button for 5 seconds. Now unfortunately I'm not sure what the exact differences between "Normal VSC" mode and "VSC Sport" are. The only obvious thing I can assume is that it will let you have a bit more freedom when you throw the car around before it will intervene. The manual isn't too much help either as all it says is "Control characteristics such as the VSC and TRAC are adjusted to afford maneuverability closer to what a driver may have imagined, while a sense of security is retained."
VSC is stability control (which is different than traction control). Normal VSC is going to make the car extremely stable, no back end coming out, no fun . VSC Sport will allow the car to slide more and get loose, but will step in if it senses a total loss of control. Turning it off, means obviously if you screw up, you don't get any computer help. EDIT: It is also worth noting that if you only turn off Traction control and VSC is in normal or sport, traction control will turn back on at speeds over 31 MPH. Turning both Traction control and VSC off means that both stay off at all speed. I can almost guarantee that the black box that records data in a crash will note the settings of traction control and VSC at the time of a crash too.
