ok, so, i am totally new to this whole subaru thing and these forums and what not.. You guys all talk about these ice races.. I really would like to get involved in these races and such.. Help me out with like what i need to do to get like signed up for this stuff. i got my car and my helmet...., what else do i need to do to??
im pretty sure the ice races are full this year also use the search tool it will bring up the thread about them.
the mnsubaru ice races are not truely a "race" (some timed runs occur but for the most part it's just a weekend of f-ing around on a frozen lake and drinking (more of the later for some attendees than driving). there is the international ice racing assocation (iira) events which mr. utecht could comment on but that requires some variety of cage and for the most part is door-to-door (meaning your car will get hit by other cars at some point - i think there are solo races for new drivers too). i also believe the sports car club of lacrosse holds a few ice rallyx races in the winter
sweet..last year i was out in lakeville/prior lake at some place watchin called quattro club or something and there was some subarus there anyone kno about that
I think Zach used to attend the MNAudi events. You might have to become a member of their club to participate, but should still be reasonable.
Correct me if I'm wrong, you have to pay $20(/day?) to use the track/lake IF you tend to stay somewhere else besides in the Cabins. I was told direct via PM from one of the event planners.
You have to pay $20 dollars to be on the lake? Or just the part of the lake with less snow on it, i.e the track?
I've been to a few of the quattro club events, they've been great. You don't have to be a member to sign up for their events. They say they give priority to members for space at events, but I haven't seen that be an issue yet. I'm planning to go this year too. They probably have some info on their webpage. http://www.glacierlakesqclub.org/ Also, if you are looking at getting into other forms of racing, etc, you could consider rallycross. There's a rallycross school coming up on Dec 14th which would be a great way to get started. I'll be there along with some other people from this forum. http://scca-lol.org/forum/index.php?topic=308.0
For the last couple years, Rich has spent a lot more then that per dayin gas just cleaning up and plowing the track for us to use. But yeah, good luck getting on part of the lake that isn't plowed.
2 years ago when we were up there you could of drove any where on the lake you wanted. if you knew your way you could of drove to orr.
hey man, I am not going to the ice races, I already payed. so if you paypal me 50 you can take my spot.
you can attend the IR, I believe there is a fee to just run on the track, but you also have to find lodging.
