the first attempt at starting the car after putting it back together failed. it turns over fine, it even fired once. it's getting fuel and spark. after turning it over several times it flooded (when i pulled the plugs the two nearest the firewall were very wet - the two by the front of the engine were dry. I didn't check spark on all the cylinders - just the flooded ones)

    relevant info
    fuel tank was completely drained
    gas tank dropped and reinstalled
driver's side fuel cut valve replaced
fuel pump assembly removed - stock fuel filter on pump assembly was removed and replaced with a fuel line, an oem fuel filter was installed in the engine bay

right now all the plugs are out so the cylinders can air out - I will retry starting tomorrow.

    nothing, it's just a stage2

the only thing that is questionable is the rewiring done on the main harness (deleting stuff like side mirror controls, power locks, keyless entry)

Try holding the gas to the floor while cranking, it shuts the injectors off.

That shouldn't matter, since the interface with the engine harness should still be intact. Your car should operate normally if turned over if it has the engine harness and the ECU. Your interior wiring and such shouldn't effect your fueling.

i did that once - that's the one time it fired. it died immediately after i let off the gas and then was too flooded after that to turn over

If you interrupted things that are involved with the BIU, there is a chance that it got damaged. Certain circuits in there tie into each other, and can effect other systems.

i hope this is true but after going through all the diagrams and actually digging through the harness I'm a bit skeptical (mainly due to how many wires are jumpered together inside the main harness - it's crazy how much stuff is spliced together). i'm getting fuel and i'm getting spark though so I'm optimistic that it'll start now that the system has been fully primed

what's odd is that cylinder 3 and 4 were absolutely full of fuel and 1 and 2 seemed normal. why would that be?

leaky injectors or o-rings? if it keeps flooding try cranking with the injectors unpluged.

How long did you try cranking before you looked at the plugs?

I was also going to say grounds.

I know I was nervous when starting my 240 as I cut out alot of wires on my engine harness. Just be confident you did it right and check all the basics. then if it puzzles you still, start looking for a different harness to try.

Check again, alot of those are probably ground wires. Typically, in electronic circuits, the 'common' or ground is tied into alot of things. It is always cheaper and more productive to run a common ground than it is to run a ground wire to each individual component separate of the others. Electrically it is the same, but physically it is entirely different. Also, a constant 12v is a constant 12v. If the component you are tying a signal to doesn't require a special clock or pulse or waveform, and just requires a constant DC voltage, there is no reason to allocate that component its own 12v constant if you can tie off another one, especially if that 12v line you are tapping off of has the amperage capacity to handle more components. There is alot of common wires in a car wiring harness.

Okay. I'd first go back and check the routing of your fuel lines and make sure they're all in order. Sounds like they could be roated incorrectly. (I say this because we removed and replaced all the lines in your car. )

wierd how you're drenching some cylinders and not others, it would be nice to have some injector pulse leds

i think you should try and get a scanner to test what the coolant temperature sensors reading, the fuel temperature/pressure sensor (which is with the fuel tank assembly) is an input for it. may have something to do with it.

I have seen FPR die and flood the cylinders, but that usually ends up being all cylinders. The only thing that seperates the cylinders is the ecu controlling the injectors (electrical side). Does the ecu dump more fuel to the back cylinders for start up enrichment??

would it make sense for 3 and 4 to fill if the supply and return lines were backwards?

it idles fine but it is throwing a cel - anyone with a scan tool or tactrix cable want to come by and pull them?
