Seeing that our dumb ass lawmakers can't make things work to keep the Vikings please check this out and send an E-letter to these f'en retards. I can't believe it has come to this, but I can't imagine the great state of Minnesota without the Vikings!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks,
    Steve

Sell them? the owner would not be "selling" the team, they would be moving the team to LA

Good, go to ****ing LA. Good ****ing riddance. You aren't getting millions in taxpayer money to play a ****ing game. A game that you have proven you suck at. Tell you what, you want 400mil in taxpayer funds, then you go sweat that money off fixing our ****ing freeways. I have driven on roads in the middle of Dubai, UAE that were in better shape than our states interstate. When it doesn't feel like I am driving in a third world country, then we can discuss your stupid playpen. If that doesn't suit you, buses to L.A. are cheap. Get ****ed.

Fwiw, 2 of the hardest things for me to get used to after moving up here have been Minnesota Nice (I still often mistake it for passive aggressive or undermining even when there no malice involved), and fairweather sports fans.

I've never lived in or been to a city that can flip a switch so quickly when it comes to mn sports fans. Wild fans aren't as bad but vikings fans (bandwagonners) seem to be the worst.

I couldn't agree with you more. I grew up a Vikings fan and have supported them in good times and bad. Every Sunday my entire family gets together to watch the games and it has become a tradition. The fact of the matter is if the Vikings leave, Minnesota is going to end up building a stadium anyway to try and entice another team to come here.

That plan seemed to work out pretty damn well for us last time around. Just saying...

I can think of worse outcomes than giving the biggest dramawhore football team in the country the boot and replacing them with someone else. I'm over this whole, "well fine I'm gone.... ummm... leaving now? I'm going, no seriously! don't try to stop me! Guys? Did you not hear me? LEAVING. Uhhhh... this isn't working...." You know what... GTFO. Don't bother telling me about it on your way out either.

I haven't watched an entire Vikings game in probably 4 years, and I don't have any real desire to do so anytime soon. The fact that they complain about NEEDING a new stadium alone pisses me off, they play what, 8 or 9 home games a season? Go jump off a collapsing bridge if you're staying in MN.

Try 3. 3 or 4 home games a season. Millions of dollars so a bunch of whining losers can have happy fun time for about 1% of the days in the year. And meanwhile, the transportation infrastructure you rely on to get to and from your job...you know, that thing you do to make money because you aren't playing games and begging for taxpayer handouts...continues to deteriorate costing employers lost manhours, and causing damage to your vehicle's tires, wheels and suspension.
Seriously. Nobody ****ing cares. Pack up your balls and toys and hoof it out to Los Angeles.

They could take up a "donation box" in the locker room and those overpaid drama queens could cover the bulk of the cost along with the owner...you know, the only people who REALLY benefit from it. And go ahead and bring up the local business argument, the Vikings don't bring in THAT much, especially not enough to justify making the population of the state to pay for it for them. Its a business, they can support their own purchases since they reap all the benefits. If they had as many games as hockey, basketball, or baseball where you might see economic benefits, then it'd be less ridiculous and retarded.

Anyone care to tell me what is wrong with the current stadium? Hell it has a brand new roof! I personally have watched the viking's play since I was little. My father has loved them since I can remember. He was more excited than me when I moved to Minnesota (originally from VA, right on the beach). He comes up every year and gets to go to a game (12 years now). That is where my love for the viking's ends. I would give them 5$ for a new stadium but that is only if they (the players) match every dollar that is given to them. I say demolish the one they have (only if it is unsafe) and then rebuild on that site. Why have 4, if you count the gophers and twins, stadiums in one state? Whe are not FL or CA........ Either way, my .02 will not change the final decision. I do love the new twins stadium but I can also say that it has not changed my decision to drive 1.5 hours to a game more than once a year MAYBE twice.

why destroy a stadium that is fine, for a team who whines and expect the state to do things for them? I'd raise the rent on them and tell them to start winning some ****ing games.

I don't understand why they didn't build the Gopher stadium large enough for the Vikings to use. If the NFL kicked in that $400m into the TCF, it would have been big enough to hold NFL games.

Look at how the Marlins absolutely raped the city of Miami. After the stadium was built team president later spoke at a fund raiser, and openly joked about how stupid the people in the city are, for going so horribly deep into debt to pay for the place.

I'm a huge 49er fan, and they just got the city of Santa Clara to pony up a ridiculous amount of money for their new stadium. It's great for me because they stay in town, they get a shinny new place. I won't have to pay any taxes to pay for it. But if I was a Santa Clara resident I would be mad as hell.

You know it won't be long before the NBA starts asking for the Target center to be replaced.

There's "Minnesota Nice", and there's Minnesota "Nice". One is the textbook definition of passive aggressive behavior, one is geniunely nice people. Often times it's hard to tell the difference because Minnesotans are so ****ing good at being nice to your face then talking **** behind your back.

If the Vikes owners want a new stadium, they should pay for their new stadium. If fans want a new stadium, fans can pay for a new stadium with ticket surcharges. There is no reason this should be funded by the state or tax payers who have no interest when we have countless other projects that need to be funded, like a failing road way.....

A new stadium might bring fans for a couple of years for the novelty factor seeing a game in the new stadium. What brings them back after that?

I have family members that are season ticket owners and they don't want a new stadium, who is pushing all this "New stadium"? I say (like anyone will listen) talk with the season ticket owners and go from there. Be diplomatic about it..... pppffffhhhaaaaaa! That's gonna work!

Damn Bro...i think that this thread done backfired on ya Bro.:(

As to my love for the Pack, i was born in Iowa which has no NFL team. After looking at the Bears, the Vikings, and the Packers as my team to support...i enjoyed the fact that the Pack was owned by the fans, that the Super Bowl trophy was named after their head coach, and that they won the very first Championship game by a landslide! The history of the team was what really pulled me into becoming a fan and choosing them over the others. Also, the fact that they don't tolerate BS (Mark Chimura) or struggle with the "fare weather" syndrome. And definitely wouldn't tolerate a jackass like Randy Moss! Packer fans love their team whether they're winning or losing and would never allow them to move...even to a new stadium, lol.

But Bro, i hope for your sake the Vikes don't move Bro! But i also hope that i don't have to pay higher taxes to keep them around either even tho i've been one of the people that have always said that the dome sucks bawlz and they need a new stadium, preferrably one without a roof.;)

Yeah in Green Bay when they did all the major additions years ago we added a half percent to our sales tax, and it obviously will never go away.

I think it is a completely different story here though, because from what it sounds like, the majority of people/tax payers do not want the new stadium, whereas they did in Green Bay. I suppose another big difference is the generated revenue is huge for a small city like Green Bay (and the surrounding towns)... It probably isn't as crucial for the twin cities area.

^Truth, Green Bay needs the Packers more than the Twin Cities needs the Vikings. Also, when Green Bay decided to do the most recent upgrades, they sold 250,000 shares to generate money instead of doing another tax hike...which is why i am now an official owner! Boooooya!:D

They actually built it with room to expand (North side currently doesn't have an upper deck or suites like the South side). I don't think the campus could handle the traffic/parking though. That MNF game against the Bears was absurd.

That was the best game I have ever been to in my life, as far as NFL games go. It had nothing to do with the 2 bottles of Jag that I snuck into the game in my snowboard boots.

Football is better to watch on TV @ the bar or a friends house. Give me "good" beer, friends and food and I am happy. Fantasy Football destroyed my love for the Vikings, I could care less where they go. I would love to see potholes fixed, more lakes stocked with fish, lower taxes, better parks, more money for teachers/schools, etc.... i could care less about their need for a new stadium.

Most definitely better viewing angles and better sense of what's going on. Exact opposite of baseball. But, like you mentioned, there's something to be said about being a part of the energy for a playoff game or a big event like MNF! Not that Viking's fans have many of those types of games anyway lol

I'm a huge Vikes fan, and hope they do figure out a way to fund a new stadium without taking money from non-fans or fair weather fans. I heard something about the Ojibwe tribal council offering up the money in exchange for building a casino close to the cities? Not sure on the details, but it's creative thinking that will be the best compromise.

Aren't they already pretty crazy high? If they were smart, they would lower the prices, as more people could see spending their hard earned cash to watch a team play...errr...lose.

I honestly lost all faith in the Vikings since Carter left. Farve was a good chance, but we all knew that wouldn't last.

I can see the benefit for the surrounding area's via growing business and jobs, and I can also see the argument of the available space for concerts and other opportunities that a giant stadim can allow. However, the jobs created by construction will be short lived, and the remaining jobs for consessions/ticketing/custodial will pay minimum wage and aren't usually highly skilled jobs. Not to say that those people don't deserve a job and a paycheck... but look around. The cost of living isn't going down anytime soon, and the Economy isn't going to recover because the Government raised taxes to build a stadium that the majority can't afford or don't want to afford enjoying.
