No if we hang out you'll be listening to Asking Alexandria, Killswitch Engage, A Day To Remember, Chimaira, Kataklysm, Emperor, Lamb of God and of course some Blink 182 and AVA thrown in as well for good Punk measure! Hopefully that list will be good enough for ya..? If not I can always bust out more - From Autumn to Ashes, Emery, This Providence, MACHINE HEAD, As I Lay Dying, Shadows Fall and the list goes on and on and on of hardcore metal with some punk sprinkled in, lol! :)

I'm glad no one else knows who they are either - they would get onto the radio and then proceed to get completely ruined and raped by 93X and the other "rock" stations...Let's keep them between you and me!.....so SHHH...!! ;)

Very much so! I've been to Taste of Chaos once and Warped tour three times in a row but have yet to make it to a Sounds of the Underground tour... :( Wanted to go but I had to work every single time it's come up...I can name more bands if need be? If you need more proof that I totally kick ass I suppose I can give it :)

You get the **** out of here with that nonsense. This isn't a democracy, and I will slap points and bans on you if you ever list those two bands as punk again. I swear to God. This is what happened to metal with the screamo nancy-rock. And metal heads had to call it nu-metal.

Dude.....you're joking right..? Blink 182 is PUNK. Just cause it's not the ORIGINAL punk music like The Ramones doesn't mean it's not under the genre of PUNK. I'll list what I want for music, lol, and under the genre it's supposed to. Just like Nickelback is "Rock" even tho they should be under "Horse****". And this "Nu-Metal" you speak of...? What exactly is that? It's a GENRE of music. Do you have any idea how many different sub groups there are under each genre?! Slap bans and points all you want, just shows ignorance :) and I'm not here to argue or fight, I'm here for Subaru's and makin friends, and you're not off to a great start with your bull**** posts my friend. If you're a moderator with the power of one, then act like it, not an upset child.

It's watered down, radio friendly, pop music. It isn't punk music. Nickelback is pop-rock. "Pop" music is watered down, radio friendly versions of less palatable music so that the 18-49 demographic can enjoy it without leaving their comfort zone. Blink182 exists so that the "punk" style of music can be mass marketed to the kids without pissing off their parents for having tasteless, foul lyrics or undertones of societal or political statements that might flow against the norm. So they doll themselves up with cute makeup and metrosexual haircuts, and "omg so punk" tattoos and piercings, but they sing the same recycled love song pap that every other pop band sings about. Because that is what the dullards that listen to the radio want to hear. Punk music used to be about challenging the norm, and raising awareness of political or social issues, or just about drinking beer and being jackasses. The three chord progression was snatched up, pop vocals and lyrics thrown over them, and then given a poppy backbeat...then it spent a few hours per song in a production studio and the song then burped out onto an EMI collection volume to be distributed to your favorite radio station.
Punk bands of the past made their own way, often creating their own labels and record conglomerates to help promote other DIY bands. The DIY ethos is what drove the underground punk scene. Going to shows, making recordings in your garage or basement, word of mouth. Punk rock was never about big stage shows, advertising, and image. It was always about getting your message to the people on your own dime. So when I hear you say "Blink182 is punk rock, you're ignorant" I grit my teeth and think about the history and culture of DIY punkrock bands from the last 30-40 years and how they made their way and made their music, and it pisses me off. YOUR ignorance of the music is showing.
And no, I'm not doling out points or bans for this, it was sarcasm. It's not breaking the site rules, so I can't really give you anything for it. And regardless, I don't have to act any differently than you if I'm a moderator, because I'm still a user of this site, and I am entitled to my opinion just like you are. And as such, I can tell you over and over again that your opinion is foolish and ignorant. I can say "Blink182 is pop rock tripe, and calling it punk rock is retarded" all day long. And since that isn't breaking a rule, I'm good to go. Welcome to the world of social interaction on the internet. And I'm also at the age where I don't really give a damn about pleasing everyone and making nice. I like my car, but I don't need anyone's approval of it, nor do I need everyone on here pattting my back and saying "you're so nice." Those days ended long ago. If you're here to make friends, cool. Good, we need more social interaction and cohesion. But don't expect everyone here to like everything that comes out of your mouth. This isn't a hugbox, it's life.

I won't quote your response because my post will be ridiculously long readymix but here you go:

You realize that everything you just said I can throw right back in your face right? I'm not arguing with you AT ALL, and in fact if you closely read my statement I even say that you can call whatever you want whatever you want just like I will too. If you go onto your iTunes right now, re-label your Kanye West CD under the genre "Screamo Metal" and it will change it without hesitation because you TOLD it what you wanted it to be under. I can do that for any band ever, and regardless of how wrong you or anyone else thinks I am, I'm right in my mind. And have you LISTENED to Blink 182...? Try telling me the song "**** a dog" wont piss parents off - or how about "The Grandpa Song"...? "When Grandpa ****ed you did he tell you that he loved you" is the opening line - and how is that NOT going against parents or "the norm" which these days is ***** rap and hip hop bull**** by lady gaga who sings about cheating on her man or getting fingered in a club or whatever those morons rap about these days. I'm not breaking any rules either, so telling me in your original post that you will slap bans down for me saying that is where I came on with my ignorance and bull**** statement. I am not here to pick fights, like I said, and I am no n00b to forums, I have been a part of forums since I was 16 and got my first car - 7 years ago - and I don't like it when people throw out the power card on people just cause they said something that you disagree with. And I'm sure you were being sarcastic, I do honestly believe that, but how can I tell that thru a written long text message basically? See where I'm coming from and see why I got upset - past that I will agree with you COMPLETELY about your statement about punk and how it degenerated. Look at Fall Out Boy - they started small and unknown for a few years and then they made one song that got onto MTV and *WHAM* there are 13 year old girls crying and singing along while their parents wait in the corner for the gig to end. I hate what mainstream does to music - and when I brought up Asking Alexandria earlier and someone said they knew people who listen to them and I asked if they had myspace it was because that was where I first heard about them, my girlfriend was randomly surfing thru artists and found them and then told me about them. They formed in 2007 and made a record deal in 2008 - and fortunately I don't think they will make it to total "mainstream" because of their style of music - no radio stations (besides XM) will play their music and I am so glad for that.

I am here to make friends, and believe it or not tho we just "fought" like a couple who just fought for the first time - I have a high respect for you even tho we clearly disagree on a lower level but agree on a higher one.
So I extend to you, a friendly handshake and a sincere apology for the fighting words :)

Also - before anyone reads this and freaks out because of my "girlfriend" statement and because they haven't figured it out yet: Stepharu is my girlfriend/wife - 10 months now - and we were just playing with people on here cause of the whole "creeper" post jokes, haha. And yes you can all be jealous of me now  cause we have two sexy Subaru's in the family and because I have a hot girlfriend/wife who is really into cars - and damn good ones at that!

The adult thing to do I guess would be to agree to disagree. You are welcome to come over and I can introduce you to the non-mainstream punk rock and give you some history. But honestly, I can't buy it. Blink can do one song about getting raped by your grandfather, but it doesn't make up for the dozens of pop rock love songs they've done. And just like Fall out boy, they have the same idiotic pre-teen listener base. I can say that with full on, 100% honesty because I am from San Diego, where they came from. You should see the kiddies that line up for their shows. If you like them, cool. I wont be the guy that tells you what you should and shouldn't listen to, it's always going to be about personal preference, and I wont step on that. I just hate hearing how the latest MTV craze is being called "punk rock." Because it is patently false in my mind. And your point about what mainstream does to music is 100% correct. Packaged music waters down the genre that got it there. Disco did it, hard rock did it (look at Metallica for a prime example of what happens to hard rock bands that get watered down), Metal did it (seriously, look at all the bands that pass as metal these days...I'm looking at you Avenged Sevenfold) and punk rock is now the target. Well, it has been the target for about a decade, and it seems the people pushing it are making great headways into ruining the music.

Here's my return handshake. I suppose, like I said, I can't agree with alot of your opinions, but that's why they are opinions. Everyone has one.

Oh and trust me - I'm not here to just make friends and always be "the nice guy" - I can be a complete and total jackass with the best of them, but I tend to try and get along with everyone because it makes things easier in the long run. If I hate your car I hate it, I deal with it but it's not my car so I keep my mouth shut - maybe a"change the exhaust/tailights" comment or something but I keep that stuff to myself (for the most part...I mean who DOESN'T talk crap about those damn riced out super civics...ugh...)
On another subject - Anyone at Uni tonight?! I'll be bringing up the wife with the yellow beast known as Sunshine :)

Most people go on Fridays, more so when it's warmer out. You may find a couple random people that wanna check out your car, but for the most part people are just too damn cool to hang out on Saturday ;)

Also, don't mind Readymix, he's one of those old-school punks, much like I'm into old-school Industrial (man, the mayhem when NIN went mainstream) and metal. There really isn't much of a place for us elitists left in the world. Personally, I don't care what you like as long as you appreciate your 'roots' :)

I'm surprised nobody has posted up the blinkdashoneeightytwo dot com site yet.

    lol bananas.

btw - the site (with the misconstrued name, of course) is NOT SAFE FOR WORK... if its even still around anymore.
