Is it just me or or do you men not get helped or asked if you need help when you go to the home improvement store like Menards, Home Depot or Lowes Maybe it's my race or am a I guy, i don't know but they never ask if I need help or anything, They walk right past me without saying a word, not a word or a Hello. Just wondering if this happens to you too or if it's just me Ace and other small places are a lot better and more friendly and helpful
Yep, rarely get asked if I need help at the big box stores, and I like it that way. I much prefer to be left the fawk alone.
I'm the same way. If I go with my Wife she is always wanting to ask someone where we might find this or that. I say half the fun is finding what you want on your own.
My 38 year old, female Vietnamese supervisor says the same thing. Me (a whitey male), I only get asked occasionally...and like most of the others here, I prefer it that way...the thrill of the hunt.
That didn't even work for me once. I needed someone to cut a couple of 2x4s and I couldn't catch anyone. Quick side note with asking for help. Last night I went to Target and after searching for a bit I asked a person "Where would I find almonds?" His response "Like nuts?" I don't know why but it made me laugh and want to .
I AM THE ONE WHO HELPS. on a side note, remember when HD was open 24 hour, and you could go there after bar close and pick up women?
Go to home depot in an orange apron and ask random people if they need help, then tell them the wrong aisle
I went into Menards looking for Wainscoting...asked the young(teenager) working near the paneling and lumber. He looked at me like i was nuts. I said "wains-coating", which is the most common misconception of proper pronunciation. He was like "Oh, yeah...it's over here!" Makes me shake my head everytime that i hear people say it. Not sure how they get "coat" out of "cot", but whatever. Merica! That's worse than not getting asked if you need help. But to ask and they can't help you...
Because you are Merican? LOL. Sound it out...wainscoting: pronounced 'wains-cot-ing' or 'wain-scot-ing'.
I'm often looking for something obscure like grommets to fit the holes in my trunk if I wanted to take the spoiler off or some other odd modification to the car or house. I usually have some old guy ask if he can help and then wants to know what it's for. Whereupon, he gives me a strange look and questions my motive then suggests I do it some other way or not do it all together. I gave up and just tell them I'm looking around and I don't need any help- thanks. Most of the time I'm sure they know less than I do about home improvement or automotive. I just want to know where I can find something - which i'm usually pretty good at.
If I want help I just try to look like I'm about to five finger discount something (not that I have or would), its amazing how helpfull people are when they think you look suspicious.
Well that IS the best product in the whole store!! Mmmmm...bacon jerky. I need to run to Menards, BRB.
Can this thread turn into a how-to of stealing? I seem to remember one of those a couple months ago....maybe a free car wash or something?
You can talk about buying piss cups from Menards if you'd like, but let's keep the comments about the stealing to a minimum...like zero please.
Or Famous Dave's Georgia Mustard, Menards is the only store around here that carries it. AWESOME on chicken.
