I think that a little warm white glow coming out of the hood scoop at night might look pretty good. I'm not talking about some bright neon or anything, but has anyone ever seen or heard of someone doing this? Figure that a few small LEDs under under the hood might give this effect.

    Thoughts?

I think this might work. Not sure how to weather coat though. Maybe a tube or something? I don't want it to be very bright either though...

    Hm....

You might also want to consider using electroluminescent wire.
Some of them vary the hue by the frequency of the applied power.

(With some electronics work, you could make the color vary by RPM, for example).

See http://elwire.com for some introductory info.

NOTE: you'd probably be breaking some laws having this turned on while
driving down the street. As long as it's white or amber, though, and not
bright enough to be considered a "fifth headlight", you're probably okay.

I always thought it'd be cool to have a tangle of blue and white "chaser"
X-mas tree lights under the hood, so it'd look like you had a lightning
storm going where your engine should be.

Lights in the hood might look pretty cool if done right. I think it would be pretty nice to have lights that were red, yellow and orange and make it look like there's flames inside the engine compartment.

the EL wire is good stuff. coud just run it aroudn the edge of the TMIC and it should give a proper glow.

I got the light did a half a$s install because I was doing it outside and took a picture. I didn't know that the WRX only uses 3 of the 4 intake slots, So, I have mixed emotions over the light now. But, if I had an STI, well then it would probably look a lot better. Anyway, here it is.
