I have 97 LGT and I am looking to upgrading the terrible excuse for a horn.

I have looked and listened to Hella's on youtube but I just don't like how annoying they are.

Also I can only see 1 horn behind the passenger side head light, is there another one hiding somewhere?

What I am looking for in a horn something of a lower tone, something you would hear on a SUV. Does any one have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

My 6 cylinder makes 1250 lb/ft of torque.
Get the Hella Supertones from Rallylights.com.

They have the 118db ones, install and enjoy the looks on people's faces when you light them off. Trust me, they'll wake the dead.

Hellas are annoying sounding, but I find that good in a horn. :)

Otherwise, I've put in the Wolo dual tone horns, the snail shaped ones, that you can get from pep boys, etc. They are a deeper, more mellow tone, a big step up from stock, but not as loud as Hellas.

Or, you can do what Fuji did and go to the junk yard, find the biggest Buick there and steal the horns off of that. That's probably the sound you are looking for, based on your description.

Yeah, my hella's have saved me from a few accidents,
Yes, only one stock horn on the LGT,
Pepboys sells horns of different tones.

I might just break down and go with Hellas for the reaction on peoples faces. I do enjoy that. I have also been merged into a few too many times and people not hearing my horn.

Also, I haven't searched much, but does anyone know of a good DIY for install? Or if some one would like to do it for me for a nominal fee or a case of beer?

I'm not handy with electrical stuff and don't really trust myself with it.

97's seem like they got a bit of both 95-96 and the 98-99 stuff. (duh)

depends on if you are soldering or crimping. all you get is the horns and a relay, all connections and wires are up to you to have on hand
