Well this is the reason I didnt make it to firestone. Got a call that the house was on fire. ran home and waited till the firefighters cleared the scene. everyone made it out safely, my mom and grandparents were there. The investigation turned up that the fire started in my closet, from a out of code light fixture. just about 30 min ago they let us into the house. here are some of the pics.
o no, that sucks dude. hope there wasnt anything worth value in your room. its a good thing it didnt happen when you were sleeping. sorry for the loss of your home.
that **** sucks.... having gone thru fire school i know what fire can do first hand, and is never good... i hope you had insurance. can it be fixed or will the house need to be rebuilt?
the brat is located at the storage. i will need to get it running so we can start moving the surviving stuff from the house to the storage. so i will be working on that tonight or first thing tomorrow. The insurance adjuster is coming out tomorrow, at around noon. so we will see how things pan out. as for losses. it will be interesting. lost all my books/textbooks/clothes/desktop/furniture, pretty much everything else in my room. this doesnt include the smoke/water damage to the rest of the house. which probably toasted the plasma tv/parent laptop and alot of other stuff. we will see tomorrow in the day what is really recoverable.
Man, that sucks. It looks like they made a pretty good stop on it and were able to minimize the damage, it could have been much much worse. Hope you guys are able to get it fixed up and move back in soon. Let me know if you need anything.
Thanks for all the well wishes everyone! I agree. they did a good job on minimizing the damage. they were very quick to be on scene (FD is only 1 mile from the house). As I heard them say, if they had been there 5 minutes later it would have been a whole lot worse. I will see how bad it really is tomorrow, when i can sort through some of the damage.
That really sucks Martin. Hopefully not everything was lost, and the house is easily fixable. Glad to hear everyone is okay.
im really sorry to hear/see that!! i know its really hard to but try to look on the bright side!! Nobody was hurt and it can be rebuilt!! Again just try to see the good side of things no matter how hard it might be!! If there are things that you need help with post it here on the site. im sure people could lend a helping hand. i know for sure if you need some help and its during a time that i am free i will DEFFINATLY!!!!! do what i can.
Man, I am sorry to hear this. i know how it is to go through a fire in the house. My house it russia was arsoned ones and it really sucked.
oh my god! if there's anything I can do! looks like we won't be in town more than a couple hours before the show on Sunday.....but if we can help. or if you'd like to store some stuff at my parents' place. borrow our trailer, etc. etc. don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks for all the offers for help. we still are not sure what needs to happen yet. We will know more later today. It sounds like we will most definitely need a fire restoration crew to come in, before it can be rebuilt. does anyone have any experience w/ fire restoration crews (how long it takes/how much does is cost/what exactly do they do/ect...)
An friend of mine used to do it, talked to him his words are to torch the place after seeing the pics. He says they can do a really good job getting every thing to look like new, new carpet, cleaning every thing and repaint with a layer of kills over walls, ceiling, studs. He was saying a good company will rip the sheet rock off and spray the studs with kills to seal in the smoke smell. But you will never really keep the smell from coming back. He say finish the job and rebuild on the old foundation. his words not mine.Time frame he told me was about 1-3 months from the day of the fire to completion. as for price not cheap.
our kitchen was on fire and i had to evacuate my fish. pretty sure they saw the fire fighters in action. lol you'll be taken kare of. There're a good amount of loss in any fire.
Never woulda guessed he was holdin'. Brutal news Martin. At least everyone is OK. The property damage from fire and the ensuing dousing out can be pervasive. Best wishes on the most favorable insurance/reclamation outcomes.
Oh dear, I'm sorry for your loss, let me know if you need any help with anything! Glad you are okay and no one was hurt.
thanks again for the well wishes / help offers. The claims adjuster was out here to day, and assessed the situation. He was a really nice person and I feel that he will do a great job. we got the windows boarded up and pretty much we are flying through this. the adjuster says we have been the fastest/most on top of this situation he has ever seen. We just had a PODS dropped for storage and are waiting to hear back from the fire recovery place about what needs to be done and how to do it. Cant say it enough thanks for the show of support it really means alot.
the system was state of the art about 3 yrs ago. p4 533fsb radeon 9800pro ect... it was still able to play new games at high speeds though (half-life 2 on max settings wasnt an issue)
Martin, Sorry to hear about the loss, that REALLY sucks! I've got a big black ugly pick-up truck with a topper that you're welcome to use to bring stuff to the storage unit. IM me if you want to use it. I'm just glad to see that everyone is ok. Even though it sucks, things can be replaced. We should all replace the smoke detector batteries in our houses.
Martin, dude so sorry to hear about this but I'm just glad everybody made it out ok...Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
Sorry to see that happen, I know how house fires effect people. My dad has been a fire fighter for 30+ years and my uncle's house(s) has burned to the ground three times in 8 years. Glad everyone made it out alive.
