anyone see the enourmous wild fire in shakopee on 169 and caturberry.

the flames were about twenty feet high in a huge field right on the side of 169 and were making there way towards housing developments. they were also evacutating the housing developments nearby. there was also about 6 different fire dept. there.

I pray no one gets hurt and they handle this thing quick before people lose thier homes.

    pics soon

Looks bad, the fire is coming up to some house's backyards on the news. Some guys at work are scrambling out to make sure their places are ok.

Wildland firefighting is one of those things I'm not real crazy about. Too many variables when nature is in control, not to mention when I go to a structure fire it's usually contained and I've got plenty of water and foam to deal with it. Wildland guys get handed rakes, shovels, chainsaws and brush trucks and are told to stop the fire.

Hopefully they can get this one contained pretty quickly before it does too much damage. This is one of the most dangerous times of the year for brush and grass fires. Keep those firefighters in your prayers, they're going to need the help.

I just saw two odd looking planes flying together through our 8th story window...heading towards Shakopee. I wonder if they're going to dump water on it?

What did the planes look like? High wing, low wing, multi or single engine? Any markings or colors? I know there is a Fire Bomber base up around Hibbing, there may be a few others around here.

Sorry...I can't really answer any of those other than they were grey :(

I heard them, and by the time I looke up they were at the edge of the window already.

I was talking with one of the guys on my FD at the station last night, turns out his house was about 10 yards from the fire at one point. His wife was told she could go in the house for 30 seconds to grab whatever she needed and then they had to get her out of there. He's got pictures of his backyard on fire  Luckily, they were able to get it stopped before it got to the house.

That sounds like no fun at all. I would be pooping Chipotle bricks with a fire that close to the house.

Wait, why'd you go to White Castle? That should be exclusively reserved for after 2:00 AM runs. :)

The aerial shots I saw of that fire looked nasty. Glad they got it under control without it taking out houses.

We could all smell it in the offices at my work (ADC) and thought our building was on fire. It was just across the road from us and our whole building reeked like smoke. Looked pretty bad out there.
