i guess i shouldnt talk...i havent had experience at minnetonka. All i can say is that brooklyn park is awesome
I am not particularly fond of the service people at minnetonka (not reflecting on the guys who do the actual work, just the "advisors") I used to live near White Bear, they were pretty good to me, but that would be quite a haul for you.
everyone on the club seems welcoming at first but then, when it comes down to meeting them, No one ever shows up for anything ie. events,get together,gatherings, etc. Or barely anyone does.... so don't get your hopes up about meeting a lot of new guys, not to be a jack@ss but i don't think you will. Maybe it's just me. P.s. Welcome to Mn =)
firestone is usually busy but its all regulars.. i know we had a huge turn out at the install day.. some car shows have been lame but thats ok.. and the duluth trip sounds like its gonna be fun. have u considered driving on the fall tour with us?
Well, if you come to motorsports events, you may find where everyone else is.... I don't do car shows or street racing, I AutoX and run track days. Most people on the board have a problem actually running their car hard (leaglly). Depends what turns your crank. :twisted:
The Duluth trip sounds fun, but I've got to see what the job situation is first. Once I get some more money (this move cost me all of my savings, and then some) I plan on getting the FXT ready to do some AutoXing. And hopefully RallyXing soon after that. BTW, gas prices are cheap up here. Yesterday was the first time I've filled up at under $3 a gallon (at a BP) since Katrina hit. Georgia was the worst. I was paying around $4 a gallon, and then it got cheaper the farther north I got. EDIT: Also, This is a bit of a silly question. But where would be a good place to go to learn to drive a stick? It's something that I really want to learn to do, but haven't had the opportunity to yet. (The only non-auto we have had in my family since I've been able to drive is my dads Porsche 911 Turbo, and he won't let me learn on that) I can't own a stick due to re-occurring shoulder surgeries, but would really like to learn to drive one. So any recommendations on driving schools or such up here would be wonderful!
In my opinion any kind of driving school for learning the basic techniques of driving a manual transmission car is overkill. I would definitely do a driving school for advanced car control techniques and stuff like that. All you need is a car, a teacher, and an empty parking lot to get started. That's what I'm doing with my girlfriend at any rate.
