Detailing cars can be fun, either for a dealership or detail shop.

Yeah, get a job at a dealership washing cars. I did that in HS. As for fast food, just stay away from places with fryers. They suck. Work in a sub shop!

Movie theaters, grocery stores, target/walmart/kmart type places. If you arent picky, just walk into any place you see and ask for an application or if they are hiring.

    don't do it!

I worked at Best Buy for a year.

if you're under 18, you WILL get a job as a cashier. Have fun selling 'free' magazine subscriptions and product replacement plans

no, they don't pay on commission. you're just expected to sell a certain amount of stuff. and if you don't, you don't get hours, or worse.

^ just because your under 18 doesnt mean you will start as a chashier. If you impress your interviwer or have sales experiance you can get a job on the sales floor. I started best buy when i was 17 and started on the sales floor. Good company to work for when you are young, especially with the discount.

^^ i would rather work at compusa. there you get a better discount (wholesale vs. 5% over wholesale at best buy) and also you get some commission on replacement plans. so you can actaully make money.

I worked at suncoast video before I was 18.

It was by all accounts an easy job that paid nothing (5.60/hr). I remember getting a whole paycheck that was like $200-$300 sometimes. That is uber lame compared to what you can make w/ college degree years later, but still, since i wasnt paying rent or anything, it seemed like a lot more money to me since it was all disposable.

Grocery stores are the #1 employer of people under 18. If you are flexible with your hours restocking at night pays more money and is generally less hassle (either store is closed, or unpopulated) so you wont be dealing with customers/register stuff.

    hit up the marinas.
you work the gas dock and haul trash to the dumpster.
    it's wicked easy.
i did it for one summer.
tips are pretty good, you get a good tan, and you see all the bikini ladies.

    call tonkabay marina.
don't tell them i sent you.

haha, I worked at a marina too, in fort washington maryland for one summer. Some idiot with a captain's license didn't put his blowers on and blew up the entire dock I worked at while I had a day off, that was the end of that job. I was under 18 then too... Times seem to be getting tougher for the younger workers these days.

If you do work at a marina, watch out for this: http://powerboat.about.com/od/safety_education/a/fumes_explosion.htm

Liabilities, experience, and Curfew, if you under 18. That's why companies prefer not to hire them. Sorry Alex...It is almost better to get paid under the table at some mom & pop restaurant, at least you get tips too...I made good $$$ when I was 15 working at a chinese restaurant in CA.

Yeah, I remember bagging groceries when I was 17. It was an ok job, and still to this day I am very anal about how my groceries are bagged...to the point where I will tell the bagger to GTFO and I'll step in and finish. But grocery workers union is gay. I would have gladly worked non-union and passed on alll the 'benefits' if I could have had the union dues portion of my check back in my pocket. You are REQUIRED to join the Union. WHich is way gay too. What if I don't want union protection? :(

it wasnt a fuse, it was a wire that they tapped off of when they put in the system in. so when we took it out it couldnt connect the connection. and tomorrow i am going to go look at tires.

thanks everyone that tried to help.

if anyone is looking for work.
tonkabay marina will hire you at 16.
you cant work on the gas dock, but you CAN work with service.
cleaning boats, doing oil changes, whatever your aptitude allows.

    call and talk to chris.
tell him you know gabriel's son in law, aaron.

anyone that want's to work their ass off, call.
it's hard work, but if you arn't lazy they take really good care of you.

You were right my tranny went to sh!t this morning on my way to school. It was leaking tranny fluid like crazy, i guess when it the guy who took it to the tranny shop, once he had moved the car he looked at the tranny fluid that was on the ground and it had chunks in it. It sounds like i will be getting a new tranny.
