Well, went camping this past weekend and while loading my 04 wrx wagon the tailgate didnt latch, so like on every other car i ever owned i poped the gate open a little and then shut it again to make sure it latched.

But i pushed on the curve of the gate just below the window and voila! i put a softball sized dent in my car.

While it is somewhat warm today i want to try and take the interior panel off of the tailgate and push the dent out before it wants to stay that way.

Anybody have any pointers for what to watch for while removing that panel or how to do it easily.

    Thanks,

    Captin Dumb***

My 6 cylinder makes 1250 lb/ft of torque.
Be careful in how you push that out, since the metal has moved a fair amount you don't want to damage the paint. A good PDR place could get that out for you without too much trouble, I had a similar dent on my wagon, and you can't even tell where it was now.

heh seems to be a common mistake, most impreza hatches I see in Duluth have a dent there.

Mine does too, from about a month ago. I was able to push back out the worst of it, but it'll need PDR to be perfect.

It isn't particularly hard to remove the panel that gets you in there, but do be careful when you put pressure on it to try and work it out. It's easy to make things worse than they are.

I got it pushed out pretty good, but i will need to take it to a PDR to get it cleaned up but for now and probally this winter it is fine.
