So WRXs are essentially my herpes.

After short stints with 3 wrx sedans, I thnk I have found a keeper, at least for now. My first 3 were all sedans that I bought repaired and sold, and were all bone stock. I noticed my new acquisition on craigslist, and like crack, I just couldn't stay away.

Picked it up yesterday in WI. She needs a lot of work, but nothing I can't handle.

2002 BRP WRX wagon. Lots of aftermarket bits and a full STI suspension and driveline swap. Also has an STI cluster which wasn't fully wired in, only the gauges work. I think that will be my first order of business. After a good wash anyway. Pictures are uploading.

BRP? Isn't that blue ridge pearl?
Only came on the RS and TS that year, in the US.

She is absolutely filthy. 250 mile trip home, and it rained nearly the whole way.

It's odd. I was not aware that the 02s were sold in the Blue Ridge Pearl color, but that is what this one is. At first I thought it was Midnight Black Pearl, but upon further inspection it is definitely BRP. She needs some loving but I am already enjoying her.

That's what I thought too, but it is BRP and the title lists it as an 02. It has all WRX interior save the gauge cluster, which is STI, so I don't think it was an outback sport.

Makes sense that they would start with an NA base if their plan was full STi swap from the get go. BRP was not a WRX color.

Well we are glad that your 'flare up' has arrived! Lol. Welcome back!

Wouldn't the title list it as an Impreza WRX or OBS???

Hope you got a really good deal cause treating other people's HSV-2 can be costly... And antiviral's don't cure it just put it back into remission... Please don't ask me how I know ;)

    08V

The title just lists Impreza, hmmmm, maybe I have been scammed lol. I thought it was black the whole time I was looking at it. Didn't realize it was blue until I got home. It was filthy from sitting in the previous owners driveway, and it was raining while I was there looking at it. He presented it as a WRX, and judging by the interior I assumed he was correct. Its not STI interior, and it does have the Momo steering wheel. Very strange. Not that it makes much difference at this point.

Couldn't take it anymore. Can't drive it without plates, as the DMV is closed all weekend, so it has just been sitting there all filthy taunting me. I had to give her a bath, and clean up the hazy headlights a bit. I also removed most of the random stickers stuck around the car, just need to get some goo gone to finish the job. Good to see her clean. I also checked the VIN tag under the hood. It lists O8V as the color code, and the Engine code is EJ205, so it was a WRX from the factory, not a Outback Sport as I suspected for a moment. So which color is O8V? I expected the color to get lighter once washed, but its still very dark. Appears black in most lights. Its growing on me.

    Stupid plastic headlights.

    That is a little better.

Actually I did some more research, o8v is used for at least 3 different colors, MBP, BBM, and some color in the lat 90s. The car is BBM. It is Blue Black Mica. Which explains the blue in the right light, and the metallic sparkle. It is definitely not a pearl paint, I realized that once I got her washed.

    Nope.

Midnight Black Pearl. It's black with blue metalflake in the paint.

Also, IIRC the paint codes are not shared between different colors.

MBP was used from 2002-2003, in 2004 they went to Java Black Pearl and then in 2005 went to Obsidian Black Pearl. Java Black had gold metalflake, Obsidian Black used silverish flake and looks more like a true black.

All of them are pearlized paints.

(Edit: Changed start year and coloring for Obsidian Black Pearl. I was thinking of Granite Black Pearl which had reddish flecks in it)

05 started OBP and its a bluish or greenish in it, I don't remember and the sun hasn't hit my car recently to see for sure...
No colors dont get mixed. For 02 its midnight black, Subaru lists the color codes online.

I just corrected my post. I was thinking Granite Black Pearl that got used on the Outbacks and I also corrected the start year.

Ah ha! BBM is the same thing as midnight black pearl. They just gave it a new name. Some places on the internets list BBM, MBP, and MBPM as o8v. Same color, same code, just different name. I guess I had just never seen a clean black bugeye in good enough lighting to see the blue metal flake. It's ok, I'd rather call it MBP then BBM. Every time I see BBM, all I can think of is Big BM, lol.

Thanks. I added a set of red Rally Armor mud flaps for a little bit of color. Will post pictures once I wash her up again. Its been rainy and I live on a dirt road, so she is a bit muddy, just not enough to look cool lol.

Trying to decide if I want to blast this set of wheels and repaint them the OE gold during the winter. They were orange and the PO repainted them this color, but the paint job is less then stellar, and I am not sure I love the dark grey on dark blue.
