    HPDE Insurance Program

I am curious how many other track drivers are aware of this new product. I just started reading about it after registering for BIR and its suppose to be a track policy to cover your car and from what I've read so far you purchase per event for structured High-Performance Driver's Education events. But I'm still looking for a policy to read more into the fine print.

So far I think its a good idea considering I've seen my share of other drivers whipping out on the track. I think the best part is this does not infrindge on your street record.

In addition to this I've always wondered how others are informing their insurance companies if at all they participate in High-Performance Driver's Education events or do track events in general.

Interesting. Rates come out to $10 + $58 per $10000 worth of coverage. $183 for a 30k STi. Maybe a bit much if you are only doing a couple sessions, but more worth it for a 2-3 day event.

Definitely a product that was sorely needed. I think most people just operate on the don't ask/don't tell principle with their insurance co.

There was a product mentione dat my last track day.
3% of the value of your car, get cover for 10 events. Makes a hell fo a lot of sense if you're doing a lot of events.

These insurance offerings have been around for some time now, and they are well worth it. My boss' GT3RSR cup car got T-boned at the hair pin at the Toronto F1 Gran Prix last year, he was air lifted out and everything. The insurance practically bought him a new car, I think the final bill was $103k and they covered everything except his $1500 deductible. His one day event premium was like $1k, so it's very well worth it.

Not really that worth it for me but if I had an expensive car I'd be very interested.
Last year, the Ford GT that went straight into the wall in canada corner(90 degree right at the end of a long straight) at Road America, I bet he wished he had insurance.
