Also, show some personality! Every interview I've been too, I don't act like some uptight idiot. I just act like myself, and that just leads to the interviewer and I having a conversation about other stuff.

I suppose it's different with IT, but in most cases...they are looking for someone who will fit in well in their environment. Experience is always good, but it can be learned along the way. Personality is something you either have or you don't...that can't be learned!

mmm ... Best Buy. Not my favorite, but good luck nonetheless. Why so many Subaru owners into IT? Funny.

Good luck. I'd go work there but i just can't stomach office anymore, no matter what it is.
I'm gonna hit up the evil place and see if i can find some retail work ...

yes, i'm that sick of office work! I'd rather do retail!!

For sure! GF's little brother works there. Their cafeteria is FTW. They also get a handful of washed up B-list celebrities that come through... I can only imagine the hilarity that ensues.

    Good luck, buddy!

Maybe that came off the wrong way, the interviews I have gone in for, that helps me calm the nerves, thinking that in your head.

It really depends on the interviewer, some are really straight nosed, to the point, others can be really laid back and easy to talk to.

What are you trying to say, all IT people are uptight idiots? ;)

I didn't mean to say he has no personality! I'm just saying that in interviews...most people are so concerned on saying the right thing that they talk and act like robots!

As for the second statement, I meant that the stuff that IT people do can't always be trained into someone whereas a lot of other positions...that is the case!

No, I'm very sane. I can leave a retail job and come home without crap bothering me. Because I'm usually standing around and if someone sucks, i can walk away from them, or they are gone in a few seconds.

In office, there is nowhere to walk around, and i am trained for phone jobs, which means I can't even leave my desk and wander the office when someone makes me mad.

I'm just made for retail jobs, not office. If it makes me crazy, so be it. At least I'll be working.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the phone job part.......eek.

I <3 my office job. But then again, I get to work with a bunch of n3rds and can show up, leave and do whatever I basically want. I just have to make sure that my work/projects are done in time.

I don't care, I'm not going to take higher pay for a job where I want to kill myself at the end of every day. I've done that way too often.
    I'd rather be happy.

And no matter what I do, i'll still make more than unemployment is giving me.

    Good luck!

+1 on showing some personality, I've been finding out that it was one of the reasons they liked me during the interview process. Not to mention that's a pretty sweet working environment, it's always nice when you're working for a company that'll show you how much they appreciate you.

so the guy that was supposed to do the interview...
was in san fran. had some sort of emergancy meeting a few days back and forgot to tell the other guy to push the interview.

so I hung out with one guy for about 40 minutes and then drove home.

2 hours later he called me up and left a message that Fridays "interview" would be across the street at the steakhouse.

    nothing wrong with that :)

    No :(

Curtis passed it on to whomever needed it, and I never heard from anyone. Then Curtis didn't respond to a couple of my e-mails.
