Ok so im looking for a way to hook up my iPod to my 06 WRX radio... what is the best way to go? I got the aux from morries but its for the center arm rest for the 08 and newer where they have the power outlet in the center arm rest. Looking for the aux that goues into the ash tray. Thanks for the help guys.

Return the 08+ to Morrie's and get the correct one, if they have it. Otherwise do like I did and get an aftermarket double-din stereo (or single-din, if you can find a cubby hole to fill the blank space) that has either an Ipod hook-up, which most do, or a place to plug a headphone-size cable from the stereo to your Ipod.

I went the Single route. You can pick up the cubbie hole from Morries for $15.

I also reccommend a retractable AUX cable for it's space-saving benefits.

I have the aux jack that goes in he ash tray location, it is much more than 15 from Morries, I can show you a recipt if you like, I will sell you mine, I don't think that your radio has the aux port in the back, and there is definatly no aux button to switch the Radio on the front. I think that you might be interested in buying the Jazzy engineering parts for your radio.

Yes any 07 6-disc (not just limited) will be a direct replacement for your headunit and will have aux-in. Super easy to swap out, like 4 screws, maybe 6. Make sure you get the actual aux port and cable though if you buy one used. No aux port you can buy from Subaru is going to work with your '06 headunit because there is simply nowhere to plug it in.

This is the Jazzy engineering kit. It requires opening up your headunit to install it.

Those are pretty much your only two options, unless you go aftermarket.

The antenna idea is how the old disc changers could hook up to a stereo without inputs on the deck. They used a fm combobulator thingy that just went inline with your antenna wire and you tuned your stereo to a set frequency much like how the little fm adapter works for your ipod.

I went to a 07 Head Unit, I was pretty sure at the time that only the limited headunits had the feature for aux, either way if you buy a headunit make sure that it has a "AUX" button. I went with the 08 style aux port because it gave me the plug for the back of the radio and an AUX port. Unfourtunatly I bought this AUX port from Morries before I found out about the 08 version. I know alot of owners that change out their stock HU don't want to remove this so it still might be useful to you? Also if you get a 07 HU with AUX and don't get the cable there is a guy on nabisco that sells a cable that you can use to pug into the aux port on the back of the HU. sorry for the fuzzy pic, if you are interested you can have this port for $30.00

are you trying to keep your unit stock? because for around $100 you can buy an aftermarket deck which improves the sound quality vastly, has sub rca adaptors, and has your aux jack

I had my 07 deck up here that needed to be sent in because the CD Player wouldn't eject. They can be fixed for cheap, I guess.

I threw it away when I moved tho. Sorry.

The jazzy route is nice because it's digital out and you can charge it at the same time. Always preferred the sound via the dock connector compared to the headphone jack.

I went with the jazzy engineering in mine and put the inputs in my console between the seats. Couldn't be happier!
