because 1. THAT IS STILL TWICE AS MUCH 2. WHY PAY TWICE AS MUCH FOR A NAME 3. The RA ones at that price are the ones that explode on impact in winter and are crap 4. the new RA ones are actually closer to $149 for the Forester.. check their website 5. I found a few sets for sale and non under $90 USED shall I continue... and I am the type of guy that IS NOT just gonna pay more for BRAND NAME when I can make something that works better and is almost as nice... hey you go ahead and pay that much if you want.. Bill just bought some for his 04 XT and his didnt even sit right.. yep BRAND NAME
Nicely done. Deathrin was telling me about what you were doing. They look awesome. as well as functional.
YES.... they have an assortment of em... pair of scissors.. the flaps are thick but pliable enough to cut with a pair of hand scissors... they flex but not too much... I think these will outperform RA ones... IMO I guess we will see come Jan ice Race time
What hardware did you use to hold the bolts in place? I'm going to be cutting some this coming week for a couple guys -and maybe a set for myself.
basically its like a u-flap thing that clips over things then the screw goes through it... much like this
looks good nate!!! and yes my front ones do not fit very well. I nee to trim them a bit. also I wished they were stiffer like the ones I had on my wrx. these move with the car sitting still and a wind blowing on them. lol
any dealership will have them... I got mine from the buckets beside my toolbox that was full of nuts, bolts and hardware.. I just grabbed 12 sets of the screws and clips today to finish the rears in the next few days.... not sure if there is any of that at Fleet farm... those ones in the picture are actually RA ones I think.. at least the name of the file I snatched offline said rallyarmor in the title... I may be looking into making these in the future.. getting a real template made up and packaging the hardware etc.. so we will see... whipped down the dirt road today sliding (NOT RACING) and for the first time NEVER heard any Gravel hitting under the panels of my car.. cant wait to get the rears down soon...
rears done... after removing like a cubic foot of wet dirt from inside the rear 1/4's I decided I had to add another piece to stop more going back in... then after finishing they are sticking out like 3ins so I trim the angle down a little to help blend it.. oh well... I like them so far... View attachment 13930 View attachment 13931 View attachment 13932 View attachment 13933 View attachment 13934 great thing is if I decide they are to far outside, it will take like 10 mins to re-drill 4 holes each to reset inwards...
looks good nate! those were the same flaps i was guna modify for the wagacy before i found new OEMs for 30bux on ebay.
hey nate, those look awesome! can you pm me a little bit of info on them? Im really curious about sizing and materials and what you think so far. I need a set for my wagon soon and cant fork the kind of dough out it would take for a pro set
basically the flaps cost like $33ish at Fleet farm... I cut them with scissors after making cardboard templates, then trimmed to need.... the rears are out a lot further then I thought they would... so I will be re-installing them an inch further in... so just a matter of re-drilling like 6 holes tops.. (per flap) unfortunately since I made them there has been no rain or snow so the dirt roads are dusty not slushy so I am not sure how effective they are.. but I know they will work better than what I had before... NOTHING.. although I prefer the street car look I am thinking I will live with the red-neck look...
If anyone wants something a bit stiffer, any truck stop should have poly flaps for trailers. That is what I'm using at the moment and they are great. Two 24" x 36" flaps for $16 dollars. I can get 4 flaps out of one full size flap. I picked them up at the Peterbuilt shop in S. St. Paul
