i heard 05 and up legacy gears could be used in the wrx tranny, they are suppose to be stronger.

I can understand that. When asking for help, people shouldn't expect to have their minds read.

You shouldn't have to play detective, either. There is precious little information in the OP.

sorry for the confusion, i have a 02 wrx, now do the gears just bolt up or what needs to be done?, what else would need to be used ( seals, gaskets etc.) is there a rebuild kit?

Gears within the transmission that are removeable are press-fit, meaning you need a shop press to do the job. Input gears on first and second are machined as part of the input shaft, so if one of those are bad, you need a new input shaft. Also, there are a lot of in's, out's, and what-have-you's to rebuilding a transmission that inexperienced people should not attempt.

well i would not do it, a trained tech would or a shop would but dow anyone know how to do it, whats involved, its listed in one of the sticky's (choosing gear ratio) as a budget daily driver upgrade option

If you want to know what is involved in a manual tranmsission overhaul, dig up a factory service manual. There are dozens of pages filled on the procedure.

Changing gear ratios involves replacing both the input and output gears for any particular "gear." And as I mentioned before, some gears on the input side are machined as part of the input shaft.

i think you still dont under stand, my question is will the legacy gt gears workin my trans?
if yes, does it need any modification to fit? has any one else done it? it is supose to be stronger. or should i get an aftermarket brand or just stick with new wrx gears?

Not due to any shortcomings on Piddster's or Erik's part.

This is the first time you asked this question.

There are a bunch of threads on Nasioc about this, including the parts needed to do the swap.
