I've had the new car a month now. No mods to this one, I think I can safely say I've done the modified car bit and would like something plain and simple for a while. I did disable the DRLs, the answer-back sounds from the remote, and the seatbelt alarm. Oh and I picked up some heavy rubber floormats from the dealer since I tend to destroy carpeted floor mats.

One thing that took me getting a new car to appreciate was how my last car applied torque. With the RS turbo it had torque now and kept pulling well up to redline. The GT has the same size engine so I thought it would still have some of that low-end but I didn't realize how much I had with my old car. When the GTs power comes on it's great, but I get this wierd inconsistency with it, like it's power output it being altered ever-so-slightly in mid-stride. I don't know if this is the clutch judder or something to do with a "re-enforced clutch" (can someone tell me exactly what that is supposed to mean?), or if it has something to do with the drive-by-wire throttle, or maybe even the boost control? It's really annoying.

I don't notice how quick the GT gets up to speed though, I think because it's a lot quieter than my old car. If I can hear what a Scoobysport exhaust for it sounds like in person I may get that as one of its only mods, the clip on the website makes it sound a little like the sputtering of the SRT-4s exhaust which is hot.

Only other mods it needs is a boost gauge and maybe the DeltaDash so I can keep an eye on things. If I were to upgrade the brakes to the STi Brembo units would that void the warranty on that part of the car even though they're Subaru parts? I haven't experienced any of the brake issues some other owners are having and these do stop pretty well, but I've been really spoiled on brakes and like having stopping power to lock it up at 50+ mph. And does anyone know if there are any better deals on gauges than the AutoMeter Nexus series? Those are the ones that closest match the stock ones as far as color and the full-sweep on start but I don't want to spend $450 on a damn boost gauge.

i kind of like the way the autmoter z-serie look. they are verys imple and pain. but just change out the light bulb in em and you should match pretty well.

I assume the 10:1 compression ratio and the boost you ran for your old RST made it a lot more efficient at torque and more torque. ;)

I just don't think you can compare a modded car to A stock car, too many things change, I'd be willing to bet a reflash alone would make you way happier with your car.

Actually I'm enjoying having a car that isn't as finicky as the last one. The RS had a ton of quirks you had to get used to, especially in cold weather. The reflash probably won't be happening anytime soon, I'd like to enjoy the warranty for the time being. I'm sure the moderate reflash with the DP install wouldn't actually cause anything to fail but I just took a new position that requires me to travel more and I don't want to mess with that until I've been in that position for a while.

No, first thing is to find a good boost gauge for it that matches the OEM dash. The AutoMeter Nexus is really the only one I know of that matches the color and does the full sweep on start. I also like the feature of having the numbers change from white to red the closer it gets to a certain point. I still can't justify $400 for it though. The Defis are about the same price but I can't recall if they do the full sweep on start/shutdown as well. Any others that do that which don't require an expensive controller purchased seperately?

I'm also looking at getting a nav system from a 2006. If I'm lucky someone will be getting rid of it in favor of a DIN LCD that does video and nav, even though there are no DIN slots on the LGTs. I'm sure the nav unit itself is selling for over a grand easy from SOA or its resellers.
