I have been in and driven wrx and sti, love how they drive especially in snow. even suprised for a large guy like me didnt really have issues with comfortability. Originally I was going to buy wrx or sti (which i will get in differences in another thread) but the legacy gt spec b 2007+ has caught my eye. It seems as in power and components to be in between a wrx and a sti. But I have never been in one and have only ran into one of them here. I would like the opinion of people that have either owned both wrx/sti and a spec b or at least driven them. what would be the gain or lose of the spec b, especially driving performance ( cornering etc..) and in snow and ice. I really enjoyed the feel of the wrx/ sti wondering the difference from a spec b insight.

There are a few spec bs around never been in one myself but based on the car with the parts it has I would say it performs well. Question might be good for legacygt.com or another lgt forum

If you wan to check out my Spec -b you can drop me a PM. I have had a WRX and an STi and I really like the under the radar feeling of the B.

It's too bad they didn't make those longer. Those were sweet cars.

You gain rear leg room. You lose dccd, front (and center I think?) LSD and of course the tickets for 46 mph in a 45 due to rear wing.

They're just as easy to mod as an STi/WRX if there's something you don't like. :)

Yeah, i was gonna say that you pretty much just gain "sleeper factor" and leg room in the back seats. Other than that they are pretty much the same thing as a WRX and STi. In fact, i've seen some of them that would blow most stage 2 WRX/STi's away. Oh yeah, they also have more creature features...leather, heated seats, dual climate control...maybe even wood grains?lol

The Spec.B has the limited-slip rear-diff - where as the standard GT does not.

Love my Spec.B, but have only ridden in heavily-tuned STI's so hard to compare (my car is stock for the moment.) It's a great all-around car; usable space, my road bike w/ both wheels removed fits in the trunk w/o folding the seats. If you're looking for the violent acceleration of the STI, I imagine that you'd have to heavily tune it - definitely checkout legacygt.com.

The Spec B's fit somewhere between the WRX and STI. The 05-07 LGT shares many common components with the 09+WRX (flanged turbo, TMIC, etc), but uses a VF40 turbo, which is smaller than the VF48/VF39 (STI turbo's) or VF52 (09+ WRX turbo). They also weight over 3500lbs :( The plus side to the extra weight is that they are much more nicely appointed inside. My WRX is pretty sparse interior-wise. It is basic "economy" car-like interior. The Spec B will be a definite step up in that regard.

I like Spec B's. The main downside I see are the cost and the extra weight.

Definitely more rare than any wrx/sti. I'd say if you want the extra cabin space and/or sleeper factor than you've found the right car. Legacy GT with STi goodies! I too wish they still made them - I get excited whenever I see one bc I know you don't just buy that car without knowing what ur paying for ;)
