I have to talk about this, it made me feel so good. (no...wasn't street racing...closed course...of course)

yesterday AM I was out and about and I happen to run into a nice looking (of course) new Porsche Carrera, still had new car tags in the window.

Evidently he was a bit excited about his new car and when he had a chance he attempted to take off pretty quick. Figuring he was going to do this I was prepared.

Well, turns out my little 16g was a bit of a suprise to him as I pulled on him about 1/2 a car length. :)

Stopped at my destination he pulled in behind me and proceeds to ask what the hell is that? I laughed and told him it was a subaru. He smirked and as he looked back at his car he said "damn it!" I told him any simple mods on his car would probably make it a rocket and the next time we met he would kill me...

Well, not that big of a deal because his car was a tiptronic (whatever you call the porsche auto), not manual. But either way his paid probably 60-70K more for his car!

btw- I remember it had 4s on the back...I looked it up, evidentially they claim 350 at the crank?!

autos have come along ways in the last few years. in some of the sports cars it is common for the autos to be quicker than the manuals.

Gosh, that would be awd cars with turbo's so big it takes like 3rd or 4th gear to spool the darn things. Get with the program man! ;)

LOL...I only WISH I knew what that was like. My little hairdryer spools quickly. Maybe next year when my daily driver turns into the project car I will get a taste of the real power.

Now you put a silhouette of a Porsche on your driver side door to symbolize the kill!!

They claim 355 bhp at the crank.
    3,340 lbs curb weight.
    MSRP $ 93,120.00

"Simple" mods on an N/A Porsche aren't going to make it a lot faster in a straight line and will probably be horrifically expensive by our standards.

Just because dood has 355 horsepower doesn't mean he had the pedal to the metal.

If it still had the stickers, the motor's not broken in yet.

The average driver is probably faster in a drag race with a modern automatic than with a manual box.

If you think all you're getting for $93k is lots of acceleration, you should buy a Firebird.

no crap, 93K into said suby would be quite a fast automobile, 93K into a firebird/camaro/gto it would probably be capable of space travel.

    ^^

very true....but it's still a porsche. and in the corners he would probably kill me.

I was going to ask him why he bought an auto....but I couldn't read if he was actually pissed.

and yeah, I beleive he was pushing it as hard as it would go.
