I have a 05 Stock STi, and it seems to be losing power. I have 1500 miles to go before oil change, air filter is 5,000 miles old, the past 2 tanks of gas were from BP Amaco. I had it in to the dealer a month or 2 ago for what I thought was a rough idol, and they said everything was normal. It isnt very obvious but I know my car and I feel a difference, is there anything the computer at the dealer couldnt find or anything else it could be. When I a m driving with the windows up and the stereo off the turbo whistle doesnt seem as loud as usual. Any ideas. Is the valet mode really something that makes a difference, I heard on this very site that it makes a difference.:eek4: :eek3:
^ lol thought I was loosing my mind for a second. Wings_23, If you have "valet mode" on your STi and it's running, you will want to shut that off and go back to your stock mapping or whatever you were running before. It also means your STi isn't "stock" anymore. Most valet modes/mappings will limit your car's ability since it's primary purpose is to prevent beatings from valet drivers or any other person driving your car.
Valet mode for an AP does not let the car over 3000rpm, he would know for sure. Other EM I dont know. But you said stock. I bet you are just getting used to it. I know my stage 2 seems really slow sometimes. Then I just drive my wifes Outback Sport and mine feels great again.
That's true, speed is all relative. Hell, I forgot my WRX was until I drove my POS rental for 2 days. Really put things into perspective
List of mods?? Also, bp 92 is now bp91, so if you are knocking at all, the ecu will pull some timing and that will feel like you are loosing power. Russ
No there is no "mapping" done. I thought I heard that even a stock STi had some kind of feature where you could turn on a valet mode, guess I was wrong.:eek3:
it could be because its getting warmer out, warm air is less dense and obviously raises intake air temp.
I was going to suggest this. My 32 bit ECU car sees a difference of about 0.2 of load between winter and summer air.
