Yesterday second gear went on my 02 WRX 5mt. I'm probably going to replace it with another used one, but does anyone have any idea about how much it costs to have one of these things rebuilt. Could it be rebuilt with 04 gears (they are a little stonger aren't they)? The car still moved before I started to take it apart for trans removal, it would move in all gears, just made alot of noise and an entire gear tooth came out stuck to the drain plug when I drained it. I don't have the funds for ppg's or a 6mt swap so I'm looking for kind of an economical fix. I'm only making 250ish whp so lets hear some suggestions for what I should do. Thanks everyone.
Rebuilds are usually $1100 to $1500 depending on what all needs to be replaced. Most people are better off getting a replacement tranny and shifting less violently. ~Dan
Probably gonna continue to shift like I do, it made it 90,000. I'm gonna rebuild it with lgt 1&2 and see what happens. I allready got a get by 5mt in my car so I'm back on the road. When my other one's done I'll break this one and have a reason to take it back out of the car.
