Well, i top of my problem with rattling, now i have a sporadic engine code come on and off. The code is P0340 which is operantly a cam shaft position sensor malfunction. The code came on when i was driving and i turned on the AC while being of gas, cars rpms went way down and the light came on. This is a second time this happens. The battery that is on the car barely holds charge, in the morning i have 10.2 volts. Could that be a problem? I am really tired of all these problems and exhausted from trying to figure them out.

    Thanks, Taras

And yes i did get a torque wrench and i did torque the wheels with 80-85lbs

    Wow. Guys.

I would say get a battery, and get the car looked at by a SHOP. Diagnostic tools FTW.

10.2V on the battery is definitely a problem- I'm surprised it even starts the car. I would get a new battery first, and have the alternator tested while you are at it. Drive it for a few days, see if the CEL has gone away. Low battery voltages can cause all sorts of unrelated problems.

Yeah, i went to get three batteries today but all of them end up not fitting my car. On of them had a negative terminal on the other side so the positive wire would not reach the positive terminal. the other one was too thick and the battery tie down did not fit on top of it. I went to the same autozone like 5 times.

Could this cel be from the low voltage in the battery under a load with low rpms.

Well, you'd need to run 8 of them in series to make 12V. Better make it 13 to get 13.5V and a little extra oomph. And even then there's probably only enough amperage to trigger the solenoid.

Sounds like you need to go to a better parts store. Tell them the make and model of the car, they look up the correct battery. Better yet, get the group number off the old battery.

And yes, low voltage causes all kinds of weird things.

Go to Sears. University Ave and Marion St. They have a charging test that costs like around 15 bucks. Totally worth it. I bought a Die Hard for like 100 bucks after tax and install. I hate to bum you out but ever since you bought your car...seems like you constantly have issues. What gives? My '02 WRX has like 122XXX miles and all my issues have been minor, but my car is fairly stock except CBE and CAI. Pray I don't have any problems like yours.

It could be the battery, it could be the cam sensor is actually bad, or it could be something else.

I'm really not trying to be a jerk when I say this, but there is a lot of info on nasioc that could help track it down. I don't know enough about your car to know what if any of it applies, but you might find something useful.

    http://www.google.com/search?client...oc.com+p0340&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Honestly when I get a cel, the first search I do on google is "site:nasioc.com <cell number>"

    >Well...it actually is a CAI, but it be used either CAI or SR, I use the latter. Actually, it did kill my MAF, but I bought a new to replace it, then my TPS is throwing a CEL, but it still runs and no other issues like you know who.:hsugh:

    P0340 OBD-II Trouble Code

    Technical Description

    Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

    What does that mean?

This indicates that a problem was detected in the camshaft position sensor circuit. Since it says circuit, that means the problem could lie in any part of the circuit - the sensor itself, the wiring, or the PCM. Don't just replace the CPS (camshaft position sensor) and think that will definitely fix it.

    Symptoms

    Symptoms can include:

    Hard starting or no start
    Rough running / misfiring
    Loss of engine power
    Causes

A code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
the camshaft position sensor may have failed
    the PCM may have failed
    there exists an open circuit
the crankshaft position sensor may have failed
    Possible Solutions

With a P0340 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:

Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
    Diagnose/replace the PCM as required

well, first thinng to do is to get a new battery. Where is a good place where i can get a bettery? I actully got a duralast battery but my battery tie down is for a small skinny battery and it does not fit over the bigger one. So i either have to get a diferent battery or a diferent battery tie down.

Good to know. BTW do you have a stock tie down bracket? What doesn't fit? Does it hit the hood? Is it too tall? Wide? Short? I'd like to hear more before I go find a new battery.

Well, the one i have looks stock cause its black and all rusted. But it has a ridge on it right in the middle. I will take a pic of it tomorrow.
BTW, just came back from a drive in a car and the rattle is still there after i torqued the wheels. When i was driving i noticed that my car idles a little rough but drives fine.

I just dont get how the auto parts guys cant get you a dang replacment battery.

Its not that hard...The key is finding the guy or two in those stores that know their way around a car. The other half cant tell their A$$ from a hole in the ground.

Yeah i know. I just looked closer at that picture of the battery from autozone and yes it is exactly like the one i got sitting in my trunk right now. It does not fit the tie down. Thouse two black covers are in a way and the battery is too tall as well. The battery i have in the car right now is really small. I think its same as goes to hondas. I bought one like that today as my first one. Got home and realized that the terminals are reversed on it. So when i set it down my positive wire was way to far away from the terminal on the battery. Then i got the this one and i cant get the tie down to go over the top!!!

Taras, go to walmart and get the 650cca battery that is 3/4 the size of the stocker and it is like $30. IIRC the stocker is only 320cca. I for the life of me, can't figure out how you have so many problems and can't get anything done. You should be able to do it right in the damn parking lot. I guess if you really need this much help, I might be able to help ya out tomorrow.
