Who on here is good with macs and creating web pages???

I have a couple of web pages that I have made with ilife??? or whatever that program is from mac (drag & drop)...

I have Dreamweaver 8 and would love to be able to make more dynamic and sweet web pages with more interactive stuff...

except for the fact that I can turn on the mac and not much more... where the heck do I start... I am NOT a head knowledge site guy who can read books and books etc, I learn best by doing it... any hints or tips... or help would be great...

This is a good place to start man:

    http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp

I learned a great deal of HTML there and that was more than enough so I could stop using applications and start using code.

but I thought the point of Dreamweaver on macs was that you didnt need to know a whole lot of HTML.... maybe enough to bypass any issues but not to make a site????

thanks for the link though.. will look it over.. have been reading up on Lynda.com

If you just looking to use Dreamweaver in "design" view solely, then I would look into the Dreamweaver manual/online tutorials.

I find that it is really difficult to use the "design" interface. That w3schools link helped me learn in the "do-it-yourself" fashion. I don't like reading books either.

I have an older Mac at home that I'm getting tired of and use Dreamweaver on a PC at work to make web pages. I don't use design view at all, though. I'm not sure why I even bother to use Creamweaver, that's just what they gave me when I started.

What do you mean "dynamic"? Usually that means your site is displaying data from a database that is constantly changing. Sounds like you want to start learning about Javascript or Flash.

I think by dynamic he means "Not webpages from 1996." Basic HTML will net you pages that look like Geocities. Flash and Javascripting will give you flashy buttons and motion. I think that is what he means. I am pretty good with Flash btw ;) I got daily 2nd place on Newgrounds once. Not that that really means jack squat these days.

The only difference between indesign/photoshop/illustrator/dreamweaver on a mac is that I don't have one of them thar fancy right clickymajiggers built into my macbook

They're the same on all platforms.

    yeah thats what I mean...

    my current page

    www.nathanwalkington.com

kinda what I am looking for...

    www.richngrace.com or www.united180.com

this is kinda what I mean by something more appealing.. probably not the best example...

I know there is way better out there, but compared to my current page I want more flashy and fun... more add ons etc...
