The MAF on my Subaru Outback 2.5 DOHC was typically attached to the end of my filter. Can anyone see any issues if I was to move it right up against the plenum?
for some reason mafs tend to read inaccurately when they are too close to throttle body. back when I was doing 240sx's people would do blow-through MAFs and they wouldn't work right if they were closer than 6" from the throttle body
Well here is my thought, for pure ****s and giggles I was thinking abobout making up a dual intake setup for the motor (it's N/A) with one filter on eiter side of the engine. With this in mind would you say I could do it if I mounted the MAF as far away as possible from the plenum but obviously after the two intakes come together? e.g virtually against the firewall. This I think would give me about 9" from the plenum. Or is it still going to read poorly? I'm guessing after reading back roads runners post there isn't really going to be anywhere I could mount it due in part because it would either against the plenum which has turbulence or aginst the join which I can only assume has a lot of turbulence also...if not more then whats against the plenum.\ Oh well, at least I didn't go waste my time by trying it first! LOL Anyone have any thoughts on how it could be done?
After having a further look at it today, it's definetly possible to do if the MAF position is acceptable. But like I said it would be for ****s and giggles and would require relocating the battery. So I'm just gonna stick with the mammoth induction noise I have now...I guess it will suffice LOL
