Maybe a new toy

I got a good deal on this and now thinking about replacing my wife's 08WRX td04 with this Legacy GT turbo. I would not need anything else just turbo and new stage 1 tune and woopaa 09 WRX power. Well I am still undecisive about this since she got leased car, but we are thinking about buying it after lease is over.

 

Dang, nice nice. I love how much bigger the cold side is on these.

 

What model year is that out of? My 05 had a VF39 on it, which was on the ragged edge of becoming a heat pump feeding a 2.5litre at 17psi.

 

Depends on where the boost is . 17 PSI isn't much at peak torque, 17 PSI at redline is insane.

Anyway, the VF40 is between a TD04 and the VF39 (slightly smaller then the '39).

But yeah, still an improvement over the TD04. Good for about 20 more WHP on a stage 2 car. Do it!

 

I was able to almost hold 17 to redline, but it was working quite hard at 6200 feet. Quite hard. Blending some e85 with 91 kept knock at bay nicely.

Do it. Do it now.

 

It's off 07 LGT. I was only planning on going stage 1. Don't want to mess with the DP.
