I'm trying to get some LP frames made with the help of the admin over at IWSTI.com
They sould look similar to these, without blocking the registration tags.

Can any part of the plate be covered as long as it's not the registration month/date and tag letters/numbers?

I believe in this state the frames themselves are illegal. Sell them as Offroad only and use and your own risk. Although Tabs have to be uncovered (Wont get hassled by the cops as much)

I thought only the covers were illegal? I thought we can have frames as long as they don't cover the registration

I thought dealership frames were illegal. Don't quote me. MY dad got a ticket in our pilot for the frame the honda dealership put on it.

EDIT: Might have been covering the tags. Don't remember!

i didn't know they were illegal at all.

If someone can confirm this, I will delete the poll thread and title it as FAIL!

Well like i said. Its not illegal to sell that as long as you do so under Offroad use only. Poeple roll frames all the time. Weather or not your supposed to you can get away with it.

Interpreted broadly, this bans even clear covers. It DOES NOT ban frames unless they cover state names or the plate number. (and the tabs, but thats a technicallity from another section, requiring those to be displayed)
Also note that a lot of frames obscure "Minnesota" hence why people get ticketed with them

Figured it was something like that. Although when cops pull you over for them they just tell you there illegal and to take them off.

Any cop who would pull you over for plate frames (plate covers, even clears annoy cops becaus ethey do decrease visibility, esp if the get dirty) is a tool in general, so they might actually ticket you (even if they are legal).

^I agree, but I don't want any excuse for a cop to pull me over. That will in turn give alot of us tickets for things like tint, not running cats, radar's on the windshield, too loud of exhaust and so on.
I'm glad I brought this up. I changed my mind after hearing from several different people about this.

Covers, no. Not even clear, as has been stated.

Frames are fine as long as there is no covering of the tabs.

You have pictures? it would be nice to know why.
Oh and if its a city that you don't pass through often, most cops won't give a ****, even the most useless of suburban cops.

It was probably the 1/4 block burnout, not the frame, that drew the attention!

And I personally have been warned multiple times for plate covers and frames. I see them on many other cars all the time and have always wanted to ask someone else about 'how often they get pulled over for theirs'. But I'm assuming, never.

    Threw all of mine away.

I got a ticket for having my COBB frames on because they were covering half of the tabs.

im really really suprised you guys get tickets for those kind of things theyre small and tiny inconviences that the cops have to hassle you for, its dumb. i havent had a front license plate on in for ever, have tint, radar, and most of what the rest of you said and ive never gotten a ticket for that, whay cant we have blan or so so license plate frames like the ones up at white bear subaru
    [IMG]
why dont we do something like that where it looks like the dealership license plate frames
