It was really hard for me to not buy a new set of irons while I was at the golf show this winter.

Oh wait, you didn't take them. They are in my attic still aren't they? Craptastic. I may have to play a round to remind myself why I never liked golfing.

By yourself is no fun. You can't race carts, drink beers, and swear to piss off the old people.

Who said anything about playing alone? And trust me, I have about 3 up on everyone in the realm of golf cart mayhem. My photo is probably still up at the Admiral Baker Navy Golf Course in San Diego. And probably at the Navy course at Coronado Island.

I've been to the indoor range/dome twice in the past couple weeks. I'm itching to get out there. I need 3 cards in for league by late mid April, so this snow better melt fast!

I want to replace my 3 and 5 woods with a hybrid of some sort (2i or 1i hybrid). Any suggestions?

You don't like golf THAT much if you don't go by yourself.:p I went at least a dozen times solo last year and will do the same this year I'm sure.

But I do agree with you Brian! b33rz+cartZ+cuSsing at a shot gone wrong(while pissing off old people) is also what golf is about!

Can't wait for the season to begin!! We WILL have a golf event this year.

I think the hybrids are better at replacing 3-4 iron and or 7 wood range more than 3-5 wood range. I got to play in Florida 2 weeks ago with my wife, it was nice getting out again.

exactly! I don't mind just going and hopping in with another group.

Over by my place in B.P. there are a couple of courses that I've been on regularly that you can walk on by yourself at almost anytime of the day and not be rushed. And they're executive courses that I practice my irons on, only $10-12 for 9 holes.

Plus, just down the road I have the infamous Edinburough golf course...I believe hole #17 has an island fairway off of the tee-box!:yumyum:

    Readymix's Golf Knowledge:

Rule 1: Never drink more than 2 beers per hole.
Rule 2: After 12 beers, never use a club larger than the 5 iron.
Rule 3: Only make 1 (one) attempt at climbing the mulch pile in the maintenance area with the golf cart.
Rule 4: If you have a hard time standing on the incline while sober, you will likely have trouble trying to hit your ball from that same incline while drunk
Rule 5: The golf cart will also have much difficulty driving on said incline
Rule 6: Said incline likely exists as some sort of water hazard.
Rule 7: The golf cart will have much difficulty driving on said water hazard.
Rule 8: As oblivious to them as you might be, the other golfers on the course are highly aware of you.
Rule 9: The other golfers are highly aware of you driving into them when they are playing slowly.
Rule 10: The other golfers are highly aware of the location of the course ranger, even if you are not
Rule 11: The course ranger could care less how well you can drive a car, and will frown upon (ban you from teh course) you 'rally driving' through the maintenance areas in the cart.
Rule 12: Do not place a golf club between your legs as if to simulate a giant graphite ***** to get the attention of the girl driving the beer cart.
Rule 13: Do not bring a cooler that is bigger than the basket on the back of the golf cart
Rule 14: Do not bring only a 5 iron, a PW, and a 3 wood so that you have more room in your golf bag for beer.
Rule 15: Do not take cans of beer that have warmed in the sun and hit them off of tees.
Rule 16: Do not do the above especially if you are in the middle of the fairway.
Rule 17: Do not pour beer into ball washers
Rule 18: If you must pee, find a secluded area to do so. Right next to where your balll landed is not appropriate.
Rule 19: Do not sit next to the green waiting for slower players to finish while leaving your cart in reverse so that the annoying "reverse buzzer" continues to sound.
Rule 20: Do not tell the guy at the hotdog stand near the green on the 9th of your escapades thus far, even if he knows who you are and what you've done in the past.
Rule 21: If you slice your ball two fairways over, do not attempt to hit it back into play, pick it up and walk it back to the hole you were on.
Rule 22: If you break the above rule, do not get in a yelling match with the people that were trying to play the hole you landed on.
Rule 23: Also, do not blame them for being 10 feet from where your ball landed.
Rule 24: If you did blame them for being close to where your ball landed, do not tee up the ball and drive it at them after they get a couple hundred yards away.
Rule 25: It is not funny, not even ironicly, if you break a window of a car sitting in the parking lot near the 18th tee. So do not roll on the teebox laughing.

It's alright. Not the same by any means though. Kaposia(sp?) was fun when I went there.

So what is everyone shooting with?

<<Nike 300cc driver, Cobra SS irons(steel shaft, cavity backs), Nike 56 degree sand, and Ping "Piper" putter. Favorite ball=Callaway.:yumyum:

And Jason, after reading that list of yours...remind me to never go golfing with you!

    Learn from my mistakes.

The problem was, by the end of the 12th hole I was so drunk and fed up with my slice that the day would promptly go downhill. Alot of the above lessons learned happened between the 12th and 15th holes. I rarely made it to the 18th, and if I did, I usually had to be helped back to the car.

The worst part is, I golfed with a few guys that were usually pretty good golfers when I wasn't there to influence them into doing bad stuff. And I always got the "Man, your swing looks professional man, I can't figure out why you slice like that. I wish my swing looked as good as yours."

I'd probably be a good golfer if I gave a damn and didn't drink like a fish the second I sat down in the cart.

I have helped a couple of friends figure out problems with their swings. Usually, if you watch a swing for a few holes, you can see where the flaw is and compensate. It's almost always something trivial.

I'm sure it is, I have decent distance, it is just to the right...alot. I've had a few shots where I swore the ball sliced so much it was actually making negative distance...coming backwards.

I bet I can help you fix it.

My only problem is that when I help people figure out the problem and they correct it, they usually out-golf me! I'm not terrible, but dammit if they don't whoop my ass anyway. Lol.

My dad had the same issue last year...slice it 2 fairways/holes away...I had him turn in his left foot a little(stance was too open), he was rocking them staight down the fairway! Like I said...trivial.

That's exactly my problem. 2 fairways over to the right. Mostly on drives, but often enough with the irons too. I've tried alot of stuff. Changed my grip, arm position, upswing speed, posture, foot position.

I play Thompson Oaks and the Mendota par3 2-3 times a week. I get out to other courses a few times a year. I have been craving hitting the links since we got our first taste of spring.

Werd! I golfed there last spring and the ground was covered in frost the morning I went. It was the first round I played last season now that I think of it. I would definitely be down to play at Brookview this spring!

Mmmm golfing. Played since I was 5

I think I got almost 30 rounds in last year.

We should get a date setup sometime in the early summer, and then fall. Best times to play by far.

Are any courses or driving ranges opened yet in the twin cities area? we're still waiting in Rochester. I heard the driving ranges were opening this weekend. I'm tired of the golf dome! I need to get my rounds in!

That sucks. I'll find something down here, hopefully this weekend.

Can anyone recommend a good hybrid? I want to replace my crappy 3 and 5 woods with possibly a #1 hybrid. I have Nike slingshot irons and can hit my 3, 4 and 5 pretty good. I almost never use my 3 & 5 woods. I was hoping to use a hybrid for those days when my driver is giving me fits and occasional long par 5s.

you just need to go to a ****s or sports authority or something and take some into a cage and try them out. i personally liked the taylormade burners the best.
