I'm still using my r5. I was looking to upgrade to the r7 last year, but I hit my r5 8 degree so well I don't want to change.

Played 9 holes here in Rochester yesterday. My drives and irons were ok, but my short game and putting need work. That's to be expected this time of year. I did manage to lace a drive about 290 yrds - not bad in the cool weather. There's always that one shot that gets you coming back for more.

I have adams Idea A3 Boxer hybrids 3,4,5 (yay like subaru...) adams steel shaft Idea irons, Adams BUL driver + 3 wood, ping karsten 130i putter with my grandfather's aldilla shaft.

I prefer top flite cheap balls, since I lose a lot of them.

A golf thing would be fun I could represent the old guys and swear to piss off the young guys. Just got back from 9 days in Myrtle Beach Had a Z06 to tool around in. Makes the STI seem slow

    Thanks for volunteering!

I'd be in, but depends on the time and location (I'm in Rochester). Cannon Falls could work.

League started last night - I (13 HDCP) shot a 45, my opponent shot 41 (5 HDCP), I'm pretty sure I beat him after hdcp-ing/match play. My HDCP will drop now - probably not good for next week then...

I was thinking around the middle/end of June, once everything dries out and starts getting a little "greener". By that time all of the courses should have enough time to develop.

The only other thing about setting a date, is the weather. Having a LAX cruise in the rain with a roof over your head when you get there, no problem. Golfing in the rain, not many will do.

Yes it was nice out, I can't wait until it stays that way;)

It really is a relaxing game, which course? Was it in good shape?

I already have 4 rounds in at the Mendota par three. It's amazing how much you regress to the bad habits after not playing all winter. I have been playing lousy but I don't think it's possible to have a bad day while golfing.

I was listening to NPR one afternoon, and an old pro was talking about "coins on the hands" of some of his competition, and he said that proved they didn't know how to grip the golf club properly. So, what IS the proper grip to avoid that? I'm not a golfer now, but I would like to learn sometime, I have good accuracy, just need learn how to do the basics, and keep the swing in one fluid motion I suppose.

^haha, consistency is the toughest aspect of golf.

I'm not familiar with this "coin on the hands" deal that you speak of. But come golfing with me sometime and I can throw you the basics in 9 or 18 holes.:)

I know there are a ton of golf "gimmicks" out there, but one that truly works wonders is the Medicus.

My dad builds golf clubs on the side, swing weights them, custom grips if needed, length adjustment...he built me a Medicus replica, I've been swinging that thing for a good 5 years now. It really trains you to swing smoothly, and to keep the club head in the correct position throughout your swing.

    I recommend +1

I'm up to 4 rounds this year as well. I hit the indoor driving range in March. It helped a little, but not much cuz you can't see your ball flight too well in 100yrds. I hit the driving range about twice a week and hope to play two rounds a week this year including league. I'm always finding something to work on. Mostly ball striking lately. I had a few skulled shots last night. But my drives were pretty straight and 300yrds down the fairway. I had a chance at eagle last night but three putted - that needs the most work.

I wish I had time this weekend but rallyx eats up 1 day already. I probably can't play 18 until after graduation :(

I'll go to the range on saturday for a while though (probably highland park)

Golf Leagues start next week for me. I hate Minnesota spring golf (everything is still dead, greens don't bite, fairways roll a mile etc) but I'm still excited to get out. Fall golf is similar, but there's something about "well ****, this might be the last round of the year, I better get out again today."

I'd be up for a mnsubaru round in June for sure.

I have a Nike Ignite2 (450cc) with a stiff shaft (harhar) for sale. I cracked the head last summer and bought a new one before sending this back to Nike. They put a new head on it = good as new. If anyone else is interested in it - pm me.

    What's everyone's average time for 9 holes?

Last night I played with a 4-some for league - with carts it took us 2hrs40mins. They were slow and not very good (one shot 60 the other 82). We finished the last 2 holes after sunset and putted in darkness except for a parking lot light on the last hole.

    Usually I can play 9 holes in 1 1/2hrs.

    uhgreed.

4 hours for 18, 2 hours for 9. All depends on style and length of course, pairings or not, and how busy the course is. Although, sucking ass has been known to add some time to a round.

buzzed yes, smashed and smashing into the golf cart infront of you, or falling off into the pond = at least an extra hour ;)

I'm a big fan of unstrapping your buddies golf bag from his cart so it falls off when he takes off. Always good for laughz, and never gets old.

I share this sentiment. However, the difference between my golfing when buzzed and when hammerdrunk is vast. Having just enough to drink not to overthink every shot is what makes me better.
