I know there's a few of us that ride mountain bikes. I'd like to gauge interest on a group ride. best spot around the cities that can work for all skill-sets would be Lebannon Hills. This is one of the best trails in the cities. Trail Length- Anywhere between 6-9 miles Type- Single track Level- Easy to moderate Anyone interested on a weekday evening meet? Meet around 6:30PM and be done by 7:30-8PM. Maybe next week, say Monday or Wednesday?????
I can't make it down to Leb by that time but am usually down for a ride at Theo or Elk River. ej20 sorry to hear bout your loss. Nothing worse than losing a ride. Especially one you never got to ride. Hope you get it back in your hands
Hrm, I just tuned up my brothers old mountain bike. I don't have any gear any more, but this sounds like lots of fun, I'm in if Dave's giving the tour.
Sure, I'll lead the ride. I'm not too quick considering I ride a 52lb freeride bike, but still quick enough you will not be going slow Heck no, it's mountain bike only. They do not allow peds on the trail. So, what works best for people. Monday or Wednesday?
either for me, and its a new slim design, pain in the arse...but you would probably be better than me at fixing it
What to do in preparation for this? Can someone provide a quick prep/maintenance list to check our bikes for? (i.e. lubing chain, tire pressures, tires, etc.)
make sure you have a helmet...that's really it. I have one extra nice helmet someone can wear. regarding the bike- not much tires inflated, lube chain, make sure your gears work okay, and show up with a smile!!!
I could do next wednesday!!!! dave you wanna try and go ride somewhere this weekend during the day? beth works.
if we go next wednesda a buddy of mine will meet us there. we are planning on going this sunday evening for a practice not dieing run. lol
Yeah, sure. Sunday night. Meet me at Theo at 5:30PM. I have a Erik's Bike Shop race that night actually.
where is that?? send me a pm with what you were trying to say here. wednesday is at lebanon. I will be there.
Theodore Worth Park- It's an Erik's Bike Shop Race.....should be funny though, it's cyclocross this year. ride, jump over crap, run, carry bike, etc etc example
100 north to 55 East 55 East about 1.5-2 miles Left at Theo Worth Parkway .5 miles up the road you'll see a golf course, park anywhere in the parking lot. follow paved bike trail 500 feet back towards 55 and you'll see a dirt road with a gate. go past gate and bike on dirt road 1/8 mile. Trail entrance is on the left.
IIRC you've never raced, only stand around and watch. right? But yes, this year's race is really stupid....and I'm pissed cause I'm really fast this year... I told scott I'm riding the demo 9 and will demolish all the obsticles.......
I should be able to make it next Wednesday evening at Lebanon. I hope it doesn't rain that day because I'm biking with road slicks.
I watched your video scuba dave and this one popped up after it....I loled a little.... Looks like fun times!!!
^^LOL...another reason I don't like cyclocross crap This is more my style...even though I can't do nearly as much as these crazy bastards..still more my style:biggrin:
yes!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it, I rode theo today actually, I'm down for wednesday at Leb..although I have not been there yet!!
Leb is a playground in the wood compared to theo, tons of small jumps, logs, etc... However, theo is great to master your fast cornering skills. Here's one of the better trails in MN. It's in Redwing @ memorial park I don't know this guy, but it gives you a good idea of the downhill trail. :yumyum:
haha, you know whats really funny though is that i have foregone buying car parts to modify my bike.....and since ive started i have also purchased a road bike....i think i found my new passion!!!!!!!!!!! that trail looks sick at redwing, is the location posted up on morc or anything, i wanna go! yeah i know what you are saying at theo wirth, i ride a couple times a week just to get faster and faster
Yeah Bill, it's not a hard trail, but there are some nice hits on it.:yumyum: If you're not comfortable in the air it's not the trail for you. My buddy Tjaard broke his collar bone right in front of me last year coming off a jump on that trail.
Redwing = Memorial Trail (on MORC) I might be able to go down a week from Sunday if you're interested. I'm bringing the helmet camera. I like to wear shin/knee pads and my full face helmet on that trail. You need a guide the first time down there, it's kinda confusing.
This is a great idea. I will be there on Wednesday and probably also Monday if anyone wants to also show up. I also ride at Lebanon on every Thursday from around 6:30, though it tends to be fairly busy on Thursdays. Would be a good time to have some extra people to ride with for a change. They recently opened the new segment of trail at Lebanon and its pretty nice, lots of large dirt berms around the tight corners. The dirt hasn't been packed in real hard yet but once it is I think it will be a really fast section to ride on. I also used to be a bike mechanic and could probably be talked into fixing your bike up a little bit if need be before riding (though I would rather spend the time riding ).
