Here's my now not so awesome picture. Finally had a chance to play with a Canon L 100-400.

Great lens! I shoot with an Xsi and can easily tell which images are from my stock lens and which are with the L lens. Very sharp and focus is spot on. IS works great hand held even at 400, just gotta keep a steady hand. Bit heavy but not unmanageable by any means. Wish it were faster but for the price and the zoom range its what my dad was looking for. Slide zoom was odd but you quickly adapt and wish all my lenses had slide zoom. Bought it slightly used and got a hell of a deal. I now need to buy my own L glass, or keep making excuses why I can't give it back.

Not very original, but I'm trying to learn how to use this camera. This is handheld with the 70-200 f4L lens.

no i just croped it a little. i usually dont do much when it comes to editing. ill have at it when i want to go crazy but for the most part i like it to be simple and sharp. good photos should look decent right out of the camera most of the time IMO.

Very nice macro shot. I'm not a fan of over-editing shots either. I like to keep it simple.

the issue is normal lenses have a minimum distance requirement for the lens to focus on a subject. my 70-200 F4L can normaly focus at 1.3 meters.

when you want to take a macro you need to get super close up to the subject. 1.3 meters wont be enough. i learned that you can take the lens off and turn it around. its kinda weird but it works. reverse lens macro photography. im simply holding the lens backwards on the camera. it wont mount but i can just make sure the lens is covering up the mount hole and it will let me get WAY in on whatever i want to shoot. this spider was REALLY tiny. the stick its sitting on is only about 2 toothpicks thick.

Aight a few questions for you guys! I have been thinking about getting a Nikon D5000 which I have shot with and am really liking! Problem is that I like that fact that it can shoot video to... Anyway I have been saving for awhile and am at the point where I am ready to buy when what do I see but the D3100.... This thing is a 14mp and shoots in 1080p.... though on paper it is better then the D5000 is it worth waiting for and is there going to be a D5100 that is going to make that look like a toy?

Also thinking ahead any of you guys have a Nikon Fisheye you want to get rid of or can recommend something for me? I like to shoot skateboarding and snowboarding and don't wanna break the bank here or want to end my life when a board fly's into it lol....

    Thanks in advance!
