I know the season for softball is nearing a close which could make for a good head start at next year. Bill thought of the Idea... But since i have more computer time. I'll run the thread about this. Would anybody be interested In Helping start / Joining a softball league? Any Comments or Suggestions are welcome. It would be a fun league and co-ed also. With Offical softball rules (men and women Ball Sizes, etc...) It can Include members and family/friends.
Wouldn't be a bad idea but this means I gotta start batting practice if I'm gonna consider. Also Katie is a solid player.
I'm thinking Minnetonka, St.louis park, and Hopkins Area... They have many Fields in these areas. Also Hopkins has good rates at renting fields for games. I've gotta call back hopkins part director about info on starting a league. So i'll have more info later.
Okay heres the deal i got going with a guy in hopkins. Let me know what you guys think The Days we could have fields available would be, Friday Night, Saturday and Sunday anytime really. We'd have to wait for the leagues that have seniority techincally. The going rate is $160 for like 5 hours. Since i said its a "Subaru" work league they gave me a discount of $75 for the field. A night game would add $25 per hour for lighting. Also I have an old family friend that could umpire for us. I gotta call for his pricing. And then buying balls and what not. We can customize the league any way need really. But it would have to be a prepay league. To ensure fields and stuff. Keep posting your interst in this deal.
I am in. even if it is not till next year that we get to play that is fine. It will give me a reason and time to get in shape other then round. if there is not enough interest to make our own league we should start seeing what it would take to get a team or 2 to together for next season. Maybe we could get a sponsor ship from mnsoc, or mnsubaru....
Well for me and some others... joining a league where its all about winning and kicking the other teams ass... and being out of shape competly... doesnt sound fitting. Unless you can find a league thats not to serious. Please i figured we could roll in people at work here who would want to play also.
Do you really want to be in charge of getting all the teams necessary together and taking all the money? I say we join an existing league and go from there. I am getting info from Katie's family, between the 3 kids they all play on separate leagues and a couple together.
Keep in mind this will be next summer, you can prolly give enough notice to get off one night a week.
Also i have no problem with setting everything up... If we find enough people to play i cant see why we cant have our own league. Other wise we can set up a team or two for a league next summer.
Down I am down with that. Do you have to be really good? I will only get better! I promise. Anyway I think we should join a league that is not too serious and just about fun. Making our own league would be kinda crazy but if we have enough people then why not?
I would be interested... I always enjoy playin a little ball! I have played for a few years already and I would like to think I am a decent player. Let me know when, where, and how and I can be there. I play Monday and Tuesday, and would be available just about any other night. -Marc
