So, some guy PMed me on NASIOC, that he was selling his stock fog lights. The thing is that he said he modded them by removing the reflector that covers the bulb. Has anyone done this? If so is it something to stay away from or is a good increase in light?

A buddy of mine did it on his 00RS fog lights. Its basically ultra ultra high beams. Super Bright. We got stopped from a cop once. LOL.

Well, a good increase in light is true. Is the light going to be scattered and act just like a giant flood light?? That will more than likely also be true. The bulb cover is there to reflect that light back onto the rear reflector to give you a more controlled fog pattern. The stock fogs are the greatest in the world anyways, but they can serve their purpose. So yes, yo will get a lot more light, it will be scattered and act more like a flood light than a fog light, but it will work.

It's going to act more like a driving light with the reflector removed.

A driving light with really poor light patterns.

Better if you want a driving light to swap in a pair of Hella 500FF lights. They're cheap ($65/pair) and fit right in and will have a much better driving pattern.

But if you want good light, but in a fog light, get the Hella 500 (not FF) in fog pattern.

You could just wire them to the factory fog harness. That would save you lots of work.
