Alright, yet again, my car is having issues. It seems like at 118k, everything goes to s***. Now my radiator is leaking everyone, apparently, from the gasket on top. Not just in one area either, pretty much the whole thing. My local shop said they can order a new one and install it for right about 450. However, since I would prefer not to have this ever be an issue again, plus the fact that if I go bigger I would like to have more cooling, what options are out there for an after market radiator that won't break the bank? I would rather not pay 700 bucks for one. In fact, the cheaper the better as long as it works well. Anyone have buy an after market radiator? Suggestions?
Lol, sorry, it's a 2002 WRX. Are the Koyo's larger capacity than stock? I see maperformaance.com and rallysportdirect.com both have Koyo's.
Thats a lot of beer... :yumyum: I went through 3 rads on my t-leg before i bought myself a Koyo. Should have done it in the first place and saved a bunch of money...
^ then I switched my insurance to Geico..... Seriously, the radiator is one of the easier things to fix on the car. Two brackets hold it in, and then there's the fans. If they are charging you for two or more hours of labor, I wouldn't ever go back to that shop.
Naw, I think they said one hour of labor. But if it's just bolt on I feel confident enough to do it myself. However, now that I got a radiator idea figured out, I would like to get different hoses for it. I was thinking Samco radiator hoses. Anyone have these?
O yeah, I was going to see if anyone keeps the radiator and hoses in stock. I need it before this weekend so I can install it. Have to drive to WY on Sunday, back to the daily grind.
autozone radiator hoses ftl. make sure you try and get braided hoses. or at least rubber heat holding rope wrapped hoses so they dont expand
Honestly, I've had the best luck with Subaru hoses. Nothing fits better. Silicone hoses really aren't necessary, IMHO. The cooling system sees what, 1 bar? 1.3 with a stiffer cap?
Lol, my radiator did the exact same thing. I'm also going to buy a koyo. Just waiting for that tax check. I'm also trying to figure out what hoses to go with. I have a '05 wrx waggy w/ 40k miles on it
