I really want to take the class but its booked months ahead right now so I may just wing it and try the test and see what happens. Anyone have a clue what it might cost to take the road test thingy? I didn't see it online.

I took MSF class also. I made reservations in january for may. Its worth it because you get your license and also get money off of insurance for taking it. Where is everyone from in the twin cities?? I'm in Chanhassen

yeah, a 50cc that does over 35-40mph is technically a motorcycle, but none are sold that way anymore and if you personalyl de restrict it most people keep the moped plates so they can legally still park on sidewalks and pay $30 a year in insurance.

It might work if you could actually find someone with a 50 that didn't register it as a moped. I know someone who has a kitted 70cc zuma thats registered as a motorcycle, maybe he'll rent it out.

I say just grab your balls and get a 300-500cc honda cb for the test. and eventually graduate up to a liter bike

As has been suggested before in this thread, the easiest and most effective is to take the class. You get the permit as a result of passing the class. They do fill up, so that's the only tough part.

A guy did fail the class in my group. He tipped the bike a few times during the test...kind of funny because the 125's and 250's used are so light you could toss them around like they were a mountain bike.

i dont think it would be hard if you practice the course a bit before...i passed it on my R6 first time...The one in main street anoka has it painted on the ground, you can just go drive it anytime. Thats what i did then i took it at arden hills becuase the have a really smooth course set up for it!

one thing about the class, you must have your permit FIRST and then you get your ENDORSEMENT as a result of passing the class

    quick question too...

Alright, I got my bike out on Monday and had some problems during the ride.
    The bike:
    2000 Buell Blast P3
    What happened:
Driving on 212 and engine suddenly starts hiccuping. I pull in the clutch and hear the engine die out completely. I coast it to the side of the road and then try to start it. Nothing. After about two minutes it starts just fine.
Repeat for Lowry Hill tunnel and 10th st exit in Saint Paul.
    What I've done so far:
The manual I have says to check the air filter which I pulled and cleaned, and the spark plug. I don't think it's the spark plug since it starts fine and runs without a problem until I've been riding for a while.
    My question:
Anyone familiar with this bike? What else could be the problem (could old gas do this?) Also the manual doesn't tell me the instructions to change the spark plug, and it's hidden under other parts so I don't know which to take off.
Any answers and advice is appreciated.

sounds like a vapor lock sort of issue, get a fuel filter, air filter and yes, run a few tanks of seafoam gas through it.

Given that you mentioned old gas, pull the tank and drain the gas. It has lost its volatility and, thanks to winter condensation, you most likely have water in the gas.

Also, if anybody has problem after filling up, water in the gas is the culprit. It is common, and although gas stations are supposed to have filters, they are not maintained.
