As the title states, I recently bought a house in S. Minneapolis with my girlfriend, and will be heading that way at the end of next month. I have been in St. Paul for the past 3 1/2 years, and have absolutely loved it. Great area, lots of fun restaurants, bars, sights, trails, etc. to really enjoy. We love to go out to eat, ocassionally drink, go to concerts, speakers, and just see what else the community has to offer.

I am interested in hearing about some S. Mpls spots that people really enjoy. I know Pepito's pretty well, and have enjoyed that little strip there on Chicago, and will hopefully get some golfing in at Hiawatha. But what else do people on here enjoy in S. Minneapolis/the surrounding area? Like I said, my exploring has been heavy on the St. Paul side of the river, and, being slightly to very directionally challenged, I am hoping to learn of some new places in the new 'hood.

I love to bike places, and of course don't mind driving. Just curious what all else may be hidden!

    Thanks for any ideas! -Julian

welcome to the neighborhood, I have lived here most all of my 28 years of life. the chain of lakes are awesome, you can bike around all of them and enjoy the last bit of summer/fall. The tin fish restaurant at lake calhoun is pretty good, they close oct 7th for the season. 46th and grand has some nice places to eat, patisserie 46 is delicious for dessert and or brunch/fresh bread. there is a Pepitos to go at 46th and Nicolette as well as a new bakery/cafe I hear is good. I can keep talking but thats a good start from me.

    Roughly 38th and Chicago.

So far, it's sounding like I will have a pretty good list of restaurants to get to!
I do love Uptown! And eating, drinking, and being merry! That's actually the first place I ever spotted OfSpunk7 (Hennepin S exit from 94 a couple years back)

The gf has been there for the past 3 years, so I know that area decent (she was right by Lyle's...awesome specials!)

I am hoping this will allow for some visits to the Calhoun meet now :D I was just always dreading the rush hour from St. Paul to Mpls.
