I'm going to buy some mud flaps, just not sure which ones. Im thinking in between basic or classic from rally armor. Are the rally armor basic flaps good enough quality or should I spend more for the classics ? Any advice or comments for either set?
I had basics on my 02 RS. They started to show wind wear (permanently bowed) after 4 months. I'm sure they could have been flattened again but I didn't feel like taking them off again I then proceded to run them over a few weeks later. If I could do it again I would probably get them again. But that's mostly me being cheap
are you set on RA? You could check out rokblokz. I just got my set in the mail and they are pretty beefy.
My self and some other forum members have made our own sets out of rubber mud flaps for trucks. If you do it right, it's cheaper than a set of rally armor ur's and much more durable than lower end flaps.
Yeah either do like Curry says or get some more expensive urethane flaps. The basic ones tend to get brittle in the cold and shatter.
urethane rally armor flaps are very high quality. Ive had mine on for 6 months now and they still look and function like new (they keep their straight form but are still floppy). I drive on a lot of dirt/rock roads too.
As i said, I'm bumping this for a member who is asking questions about mud flaps. I went the cheaper route and bought the basics, but I think next time I can I'm going to try out the rokblok.
Half price for the RA ur equivalent? I didn't see that before I purchased my basics. Maybe there on sale?
I'm went the cheap rout and got the RA universal flaps. Not very beefy but seem to be holding up well in the cold weather we've been having.
Update: Rokblokz are the equivalent to Rally Armour UR's and only $90. Im thinking I will be getting the rokblokz real soon.
hey man if you have some free time, make them. i bought a 24''x36'' ( i think) for 11 bucks from fleet pride i think. i took a long time to get exactly the look and sizing i wanted, but they are incredible. i made jigs so if they did break i can make them again in like 10 minutes. but they have held up unbelievable in this cold as hell winter no cracking or anything. Even with all the big chunks of snow and ice on the roads they have not broken. if you go this route document it all. sizing, hole placement, how much you took out off the front for wheel turning, what hardware you used and how they turned out (what reveals). you will not regret saving all that. http://mnsubaru.com/threads/mudflaps.44759/
