So I had a great time last night driving out to my buddys cabin. I got three different check engine lights and my car died on me three different times as well. I pulled P0545 (EGT Sensor Low input), P1301 (Fire Due to Increased Exhaust Temp), P1544 (High Exhaust Temp). I reset my ecu each time it happens but the CEL's come back after about 20 minutes or so of driving. My car is sitting at my buddys cabin but which is about an hour away. Basically my question is, Is my car capable of being driven back or should I just find a trailer and bring it back that way. My second and bigger question now is, what do you guys think is wrong with it? I think its just the exhaust sensor but im not sure. Any help will be much appreciated, especially in finding a trailer if I am not able to drive it at all.
Yeah...My mom drives a Range Rover Sport and my Father drives an Escalade so I definately have a vehicle to use, just no trailer. If you can help me out I would very much appreciate it.
It sounds like you need a new EGT sensor. The only difficult thing about replacing it is that it's in a tight spot on the uppipe that may require a lot of wrenching. Nathan can help at his Meineke shop (after hours... shhhhh.) for a little $$.
I will check with my dad and see if we can use his car trailer.. where is the car at? How many miles away?
My car is currently sitting in annondale...about 15 minutes or so past buffalo on 55 west. If you dont wanna do the drive with me I would be able to return the trailer same day no problem. Of course I would take responsibility for anything that would happen to the trailer while in my possesion.
mnauto, you can do what bikerboy suggest or we can make the run.. my dads car trailer is in buffalo at his house. When were you hoping to do it? My schedule is booked as in a month I tie the knot....
may be your convertor crapped itself and is blocking the exhaust flow causing it to overheat ... or is running way to rich and overheating your syste, which in turn cookeds all the sensors too.... maybe... I dont know...
You can just follow the sensor leads up from the uppipe, but they will lead to a little black plug on the pass strut tower. I think it is the plug right under the drl resistor. Also, you can use a 2.2k resistor in the car side of the plug and completely bypass the stock egt. Also, you can drive the car, it will be fine. Russ
Well got out to my buddies cabin again last night for a night of some fun and saw my car for the first time in a week, my god she was dirty. I unplugged the EGT plug on the strut tower, the one leading to the up pipe, and my car ran like a champ all the way home. Well the CEL light was on, like I expected, but when I got back into my car about 2 1/2 hours later to go to work, the CEL was off. I am looking for the 2.2 ohm resistor but am running out of luck too. Think I should be worried at all? I never reset my ECU or anything to clear the CEL, it just dis appeared. Any ideas on what happened to it? Also, does anyone have a 2.2 ohm resistor that will be down at firestone tonight and if not anyone know where to get one? Already checked radio shack
I believe I have one that I used when I deleted my EGT sensor on my uppipe, let me know if you need it and I can run it down to you when I am down on university
I will definately take it if you have one. None of the radio shacks around me have the 2.2K Ohm 1/2 watt resistor that you need. I can take you for a ride tonight as well if you are gonna be at firestone for awhile
I will get there around 8 or a little after prolly, and I'll stay till about 945ish or so. We'll see how the crowd is
