The guys down in Northern IL have been putting this on for awhile, it's a lot of fun. Last year I think they had just over one hundred Subaru's racing, everything from the new sti to saabarus and foresters. You also get a mix of a couple people bringing their corvettes and other cars to (but they aren't in competition for prizes) Now, I know probably most of the people on here don't like just racing in a straight line. That's fine you don't have to race, but its also a good place to meet a lot of other fellow drivers. If you do want to run a couple passes you can plenty in. Last year everyone got more then enough time on the track. I am going to drive down either the morning of, or the night before. But if anyone is interested in going let me know, we can caravan, or if you just want to check out the shoot out i can give a couple rides. http://www.subarushootout.com/ http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1736908
well since the thread announcing it was just made today, maybe they planned it for a different day from what Tim said? I'm about 90% sure I'll go to this.
lol it has always been planed out for June 13th, so maybe i slurred my speech for one reason or another (Jamison) when i mentioned it to you. Depending on who all is going and what times. I was thinking about grabbing a hotel in Rockford area (there isnt to much around Byron) and hitting up some bars or party at the hotel for a bit friday night if we get there early. If we get in late it might just be straight to the pillow. I will probably be staying saterday night too. either staying in rockford or heading into downtown Chicago. Last year I'm pretty sure i saw the grimmspeed there and might have met one or two other MN people.
Thanks for posting info Tim. Any q's please ask me over on the Nasioc Thread. -Ben MWSOC Shootout Organizer
Bump!! getting close, I have a couple friends coming up from Columbus Ohio. Looks like we are gonna get a hotel room or two hang out a bit friday night then up early to get to the track and get some good times in before the air temps pick up. Now that its close who is actually going down and not just hand raising. If there's enough interest I will try and get acouple rooms if not I will probably just post up my hotel info and let you book your self.
well I saw a couple cars from Minnesota, weather kinda sucked for the first part of the day but it cleared out and we got some decent passes in. Here's some pics one of the guys took. I was to busy running my car once the sun came out.
and heres a vid from inside the car of this dude I got lined up against. (notice the MNSOC sticker represent!)
yeah that other car took off. i mean it looked like he had a 1/2 a car on you from the late start.... but damn he/she was running something mean in that car.
LOL no the blue car was me, the video was from some other guy in his 04 wrx. Thats just what happens when a WRX try to run with the sti really i just think that guy cant drive that well, i was running crappy times high 13s with over 2 sec 60 foots
sick STI. i wish i would have known about this i would have gone it looks like a lot of fun and safe racing...
i had posted up about it a couple times before i probably should have gave it a couple more bumps. Well there's always next year.
I will be going down next summer for sure. The 815 Subaru guys put this on normally. The majority of the cars are from the Chicago area, but we had people come in from PA, OH, IN, MN, WI, MI, I think even one from VA. They have shops that sponsor and give out out prizes. They normally break up the cars into groups based on engine size and turbo. Check out the first post on this for some more details.
