haha yea, i wish i could say it was mine! it will be interesting if he is actually going to be running those numbers this summer or not tho..
12.9 is not hard to reach out of turbo DSM. However 12.9 can be done with stock STI. I am too a former DSM owner and will always have respect for a quick one. (wether it looks good or not) Blackozone can atest to the troubles a faced with mine and can tell you the amount a bench racing i used to do. Your car is quick, I can tell by the mods. But the cocky attitude will not gain any respect around here because there are many suabrus (not just STIs) on here that could make a well modded DSM look stupid. So words of advice (being in your shoes before) NO BENCH RACING!
Nice GST, I actually sold my '99 gsx to buy my forester! It was a really fun car, the short list of mods was a PTE gt3076r, HRC fmic, 3" o2 eliminator exhaust, tial external gate, dsmlink, magnus SMIM, and FP2 cams. It hauled balls. 48 lb/min of airflow get's it moving. Here's an old crappy picture: -Steve
Thanks man, if you ever need some pointers or help with the dizzum feel free to PM me. I've spent so many hundreds of hours underneath the hoods of 2g's I can't even count anymore! If you need help and are in Rochester I can swing by and give you hand too. -Steve
lawl I kid. That was what I wanted. Black. BUT, the "Barcelona Red Pearl" looked absolutely stunning at dusk and under the streetlights.
And again with the cockiness. There's a word for that... Hypocrite? You call it "stimulating conversation". Most people over 20 call it "being cocky".
kat got pwnet! I really like barcelona in pictures, but I have yet to see it in person. Subie Java Black Pearl might be the color guys....
i dont think you guys are ready for this one...my buddies old car like 3 years ago..haha View attachment 9508
hahaha yes it was a GSX..that was actually when i first learned about all wheel drive and subaru actually!
everyone i know, (or have known) that has a DSM either sold it because they needed something reliable, or currently it does not run  hope you got something ELSE reliable to drive in the meantime
diamond star motors. chrysler motors. chrysler couldnt build a drivetrain if there lives depended on it so thats why they now (finally) offer the unlimited mile Drivetrain warrenty for free..BECASE THEIR TRANSMISSIONS SUCK!!!!! so do the engines that they built for *our cars. i figure why would you want to put a good amount of elbow grease into your engines to make them reliable when they arent even going to have your name on them. the 4g63 is a domestic motor with mitsu writing. that is the only thing why they run crappy. but they sure as hell make alot of power for cheap! my old TSI AWD had a 14b turbo. nothing fancy but that thing lifted when i gave it gas. i have plenty more stories of my friends and there dsms but you get the idea
this is exactly my reasoning is to why i THINK all the evos are going to start to crap out here within the next 10 years just like the eclipse's lasers and talons are. because the evo engine is a 4g63 too. but maybe with little better internals. but if you think about it thats why you can make evos really fast and its soo easy to do so also its not the internals that always went first on the dsm's it was the little annoying things like water pumps vaccuum lines, turbo seals, manifold problems, boost leak spike surge blah BS, you know.
I love that everyone hates DSMs. Besides the whole crankwalk thing(that doesnt happen to every car) have you ever seen a 1g or 2g stock that has a ton of problems? Its the dumbbut people driving DSMs that give it a bad name. Running a 20g with 25lbs of boost and tuning with an SAFC and wondering why there engine went to hell. Or venting their BOV to "sound cool" and wonder why when they come to a stop the car shuts off. Honestly they are reliable once you get rid of all the dumb people that do dumb things. And Actually the 4g63 was not a US motor, Its straight JDM shat man . But for real it was. The 420A found in the NAs are US motors. But you know what, I dont even care. I love my DSM even when its sitting in the garage. And when I get a bunch of money Im going to put a 4g63 in my legacy
Well my DSM was a constant headache from day one to be honest. Many of the problems I had with it were self induced, but some of them were not. I just got sick of maintaining the car after a while, plus it just wasn't a practical car for me at that point with what it had become. Don't get me wrong every time I hit the gas I had a grin from ear to ear but it just wasn't as useful of a car as I needed. I'm way happier with my FXT now as it pretty much perfectly fit the bill of what I wanted as a replacement for the dizzum; good/acceptable gas mileage, room to seat 4 easily (4-door), lots of space to haul a ton of stuff, and a lot of useable torque low in the rpm band for around town. The toaster fit the bill and that was all she wrote. -Steve
