After a bit of looking around, I bought this from Jason (Motorhead on here) this morning! I spent the day detailing it. I Shampooed the interior with ye olde rental Rug Doctor, and then got out the Porter Cable and did a 3 step compound/polish/glaze on the outside with some Pinnacle products. The headlights were also buffed out, as they were cloudy: I think it came out ok. I'm going to detail the engine later this week. Hopefully I don't have to open the hood too much... It's been fun so far. For those not familiar with the car, it has a 3" stromung divorced "shorty" DP, and a road tune from Bullwinkle. My plans are for a modest exhaust of some kind, and a roof rack. Probably do the rack next week sometime. I'll look for some summer wheels over the winter or something. Oh, and there is also a set of JDM tyte STI floormats.
You will find the headlights need a buff a few times per year.... only takes a few seconds to get them back to shine but they dull quickly. Looks great though!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!yeah! I'm happy about it. I hope it's nice to me. Ya, it took about 3 minutes a side. I used 3m perfect it-2 on them, and it was almost the perfect grit. Oh, and my first "mod" is yellow Lamin-x fog light covers. Hopefully those draw attention from the fact that someone did a terrible re-spray on the front bumper. Seriously, it looks like they used a damn paint brush. I'm going to leave it for the winter, and get it re-done in the spring, along with some PDR work.
Thanks! I'm going to do exhaust, and that's pretty much it. Maybe summer wheels and tires, if I find a good deal. I do want to get the body sorted out, so that's going to be the first priority. I'm going to keep this as a "mild" DD. My last daily was a gt30'd Saab saab with 350whp, and that thing shed parts like it was a job, so I'm keeping this one "nice". The stock wheels need a re-do too, I'm debating going with the BBS gold from Grimmspeed. That may look ok with the white.
Oh. You drive a warmed-over economy car too, so don't go and get a Jesus complex all up in here or anything like that, Mkay? Requisite wink:
^no worries. The front bumper has your basic lousy re-paint. The fog light buckets looked pretty crappy. I think they look less crappy now. Before: After: I'm going to try and touch up the chips next week. That should be interesting. Oh, and it got 2 coats of Klasse glaze in 2 days. It's almost glowing now.
Glad to see you givin the "white marshmellow" some lovin. Cars previous nickname from the kids. Yeah, that front bumper made me cringe everytime I glanced at it or washed it. The light bezels painted really covered up the imperfections. If you ever decide to sell the DP then let me know. It will fit a FOZ whenever I find one.
haha, marshmallow. The paint on the bumper is LOL. It falls off in sheets after about 10 seconds under some aircraft stripper. I used a Popsicle stick to scrape stuff off! I'm going to fix the bumper in the spring. It looks good enough now to drive through a winter. I think the DP is going to stay. I found some other bits today, and those bits will do well with the DP. I also have your garage door opener. There is not a bike on top. Yet.
Put this on: (turbo to IC pipe) Gee, I wonder what one works better. I also picked up a muffler today. I am getting an axle-back (stock) to combine with this muffler, we'll see how it sounds. I got it for $10. pretty hard to argue about that. After a cleaning, and a polish: 3" exit. I'm going to leave it just like that. It's going to look awesome in the bumper cutout.
This came off a E30 BMW. I'm taking it apart tonight. hopefully I can use some of the tubing. That stupid strap cut my hand yesterday. Not a fan.
A couple of new things: I did this: Then did this: And then this, to the wheels: Then traded for these: And got this: Oh, and this: I got an up-pipe too, but that's a ways off. Front bumper re-paint over the winter. Yay!
