just curious, how has the highest na power around here? post your power up and if its not a secret your mods. i'm just thinking about seeing how much na power i can scround up without banking the bank too badly and then go turbo later on. on mine i got 132whp and 129wtq on the dyno at rs. got cai and catback on at the time.
pretty much, to make a powerfull n/a subaru, you'll need what muscle car guys use...displacement and cylinders such as an svx or 3.0 h-6 swap, otherwise you are spending TONS of money on not very much power

Get on Nasioc and find Xephyr's old setup. Also look for posts by a guy named Jon Cooley (don't know what Jon's screen name is). Additionally, Matt Monson was building an NA beast for awhile, too. All three of those guys had some pretty monster setups and have numerous posts detailing their builds. I know we talked about this and I know you're not looking for 200+ HP, but using some of their tricks you should be able to get up to 150 reliably. Mark R was pushing 200 AWHP at 5,500 feet uncorrected for altitude.
hummm I think Dao has the highest NA setup right now..... H6 swap, at least 200whp because it's able to pull on a S2000.
I don't think very many NA people have been on the dyno, so it might be hard to find out who has the most power. Anyway, I'm kind of tempted to do a higher compression NA build. Maybe 2.5 block with 2.2 heads and cams. I just want something with decent torque and good throttle response. I just don't think my current car is worth dumping too much money into, so I probably wouldn't do this unless I found a reason why my current engine needs replacement...
That is a serious case of bench HP rating. Depends on the dyno- but I'd wager that at LSE it wouldn't even push 180.
We had three 2.5RSes on the LSE dyno back in February. I'll see if I can dig out the charts for them over the weekend and post them up. We also have numbers for two of them from last October, but one of them was broken at the time. It did much better in February after it had been fixed. Stuart.
it does have intake and exhaust. All I know is that, the S2000 dyno'ed at DB Performance, and it put a good 200whp (200.3whp). The SVX swapped L was able to creep away. Whole setup is: 95L w/ SVX H6 swap custom y-pipeback exhaust 3" after y-pipe Custom intake w/ cone filter ACT ProLite flywheel & clutch on '98 Legacy OB tranny 4.111 like said, unknown HP but pretty quick. Could have less HP than 200whp, but....it's at least pushing some 250bhp if not better
Not always true, I used to know a guy by the name of Adelman who raced sprint cars. who ran a gm 151cui=2.5L 4cyl. that was 400bhp and 325ft lbs and raced it competitively against small block V8s due to the weight savings. granted it was an abortion. I still to this day remember the recipe for it. one GM 2.5l block one GM 305 V8 head(small bock chevy heads used the same bolt pattern) four carillo rods four custom forged 12.5:1 pistons one custom ground cam from berry cam in lester prairie,mn four weber one barrel carbs add oil and alcohol to taste there are several ways to build a NA engine and many things to keep in mind while laying out the plans. Questions to ask your self are. 1. is this my daily driver or fri/sat night car? 2. Where do I want my power band? 3. Do i care about mileage? 4. is what i want going to require engine management(ecus are dumb, but this can be an advantage)? 5. is this build going to be a stepping stone to some thing larger or a turbo? Just a few main ones to think about.I have done many NA american cars but in the end a engine is just an air pump, it takes air in and moves it out. the theory is the same just the availability of parts seems to be a lot smaller.
stock SVXs push anywhere from 160-175 stock on dynos. depends on the year, millage and what all is done. simple K&N panel filter, magnaflow muffler, and a fresh tranny on a 92' will normally yeild around 175 to the wheels.
