Is it just me or are there allot of asses on that board. Some guy asked if it would be alright to run 87 in a turbo forester and they just tore him down. They could not just explain the reason it asks for 91.
there are many, many, many large E-***** know-it-alls on the Nasioc, but for every one of them you'll also get real knowledge if you wade through the bad stuff
I know. I pm'd the guy with a good answer on why not to run 87. I also told him to check the site out for info. I told him told him the same thing you said. I also pointed him to scoobymods for extra research. Before I bought my scooby I didn't know a thing about these cars. I figure I am getting really knowledgeable after cruising sites like nosiac, scooby mods, and this site.
Lots of good info on that board... and some not so hot. For the most part I think the old timers just get sick of hearing over and over... "What BOV should I get", "I want a MBC..". etc...
I agree on that. But I have not seen alot of what fuel should I run threads. He just asked a simple question on a fuel recommendation and they just flamed him.
they're always telling others to search, lol, reminds me of honda-tech but i do go there to get as much info as i can get
oh well I got banned cause I called a moderator a gutless braindead pathetic &%^&%^&%^&(%^&%^&(%^&%^&
Yeah, the vast majority of posts on there are complete ****. It's certainly a case where the crap is starting to grow exponentially now. Maybe they should change their background to brown, hehehe.
Thats kind of why I like scooby mods. The have one board to post on. The rest of the site is closed down unless your a mod. I think it helps filter out the trash.
I meant the original thread that was the inspiration for this post. anyway, found it, it wasn't all that bad by nasioc standards. OP would have gotten off easier in the Newbies & FAQs forum.
Yeah, that thread was weak compared to, oh, say, the Slowboy Racing thread. But still, that guy should have done some math. Premium is an extra .20/gallon. If you have a short commute, say one tank a week, that's not even $3 a week. If $150 extra a year is a deal breaker, well...
i'm new here in the suby world, and just learning about all this stuff... so, uh, i'm curious... why?
Most performance cars take 91-93 octane gas because of tuning and when the EM can expect the ignition of the gas. If you want to read more on octane ratings, you can read the following link: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question90.htm Basically, you don't want to put lower octane gas into your car since it can ignite under less pressure, which would cause pre-detonation of the gas and directly affecting performance since it wasn't expected. The above link explains most of this
Thankfully our moderators are above such things, and let us insult each other to our hearts content...
