I'd just get an OEM type clutch. Not sure on the STi, but the WRX was an Exedy OEM clutch.

I would also recommend staying stock until your power level requires it.

Stage 1 Exedy(if you want an aftermarket) I am running this clutch on a stage 2 setup and it is awesome. It can handle the abuse I give it.

Stage 1 Exedy is the same as the OEM clutch.

The only problem with getting a higher torque rated clutch is that the action will be heavier and it will be more work to drive. My advice would be the same as the other guys, get an OEM or only slightly higher torque rated clutch, especially if the car is your DD.

I was looking at a ACT stage 1 or 2 and Exedy stage 1 or 2 I am also thinking if I have the money to get a lightened flywheel.

And I'll say it again, and Exedy Stage 1 clutch is the OEM clutch in your car.

I know it is... so far everyone is more for the OEM clutch ... I thought going one step up would be better.

Well, like I said, clutches come in torque ratings. In general, the higher the "stage" the higher the torque rating. However, higher torque rating basically just means more clamping force. If your clutch has more clamping force, the "feel" of the clutch pedal will be much more stiff, and the clutch will grab much more quickly.

A quick engaging clutch with a stiff pedal feel is not a good thing to have on your DD.

This is why, in general, the best advice is to pick a clutch with the lowest torque rating you need. And why picking a higher rated clutch just because you might upgrade in the future is a bad idea.

But yes, the Exedy or Act "stage 1" clutches would be good. Just make sure you stick to a full disk clutch, not a 6 puck or something like that.

LOL, Vivid is AT LEAST $600 out of line with a lot of vendors on that clutch.

I have the Hyper Single and it holds what my stock STi clutch cannot, and I beat it like it owes me money. The stock clutch started to slip at about 350 lb-ft.
